Ladakh is by far my favorite region on that magical subcontinent. The Himalaya
Mountains contain the worlds ten tallest mountain peaks and are part of a journey
you can never forget. See my highlights (no particualar order!) in Leh and Ladakh
below. :-D

Royal Leh Palace

As you can see the Leh palace looks silimilar like the Potala in Lhasa. Originally this
construction was built much earlier. Take a walk (some unsporty people would call it
a climb!) to this palace and enjoy the awesome view over Leh (3500 meters). You need
to be sure not to walk around too quickly because the thin mountain air makes it
dicult to breathe easily.

The Dalai Lama.

... during your stay, you might have the honor meeting the Dalai Lama. :-) We ew
from Dehli to Leh and were wondering, why so many monks took a ight with us. And
we found out the reason soon. The Dalai Lama came visit his second home and was
praying for. Shey is about 15 miles away from Leh.

By far - Tikse is the most beautiful temple in Ladahk. Go for it!

Shanti Stupa

Traveling from the state of Ladakh, the trip there takes about 5 hours through the
Changla Pass. The Chang La Pass is located at 5,350m (17,590 ft) above sea level. Even
if you are sooo exited beeing on the third highest motor highway on earth - dont run!

Pangong Lake

Hidden within the mountains is the beautiful Pangong Lake.

1. Leh:
Leh is the capital of Ladakh and also the largest town there. Leh was once the capital
of Ladakh Kingdom and therefore has many historical places and monasteries. It has
become a tourist hub and is connected with Srinagar and Manali by road and can
even be reached by air. It is a pack packers heaven; cheap hotels, good food,
hospitable locals and exotic culture and destination. You would nd decent
commuting options in Leh to visit most of the places in Ladakh.

2. Kargil:
Kargil is the second largest town in Ladakh. The town is a valley surrounded by
mountain on all sides. There is not much to see in Kargil but it has an old world
charm. There are many places to explore around Kargil.

3. Pangong Lake:
Pangong Lake seemed to be the favourite destination for many tourists visiting
Ladakh. Few years back it was a beautiful brackish lake known to very few people. It
was relatively unknown before it got popularised by the blockbuster lm 3 Idiots.

most beautiful high altitude lakes in the world. It can be reached after 6 hours drive
from Leh.

4. Lamayuru Village and Monastery:

The Lamayuru monastery is the most beautiful monastery I have ever seen. The
village is centered around this ancient monastery and is worth a visit. It is the centre
of Buddhism and is one of the most revered Buddhist monasteries in Ladakh. The
small village is also the host for many annual events and religious festivals. Dont
miss the strange, out of this world moonscape just near the village.

5. Tsomoriri Lake:
This is another high altitude Lake but less frequented than Pangong. The Lake is
pristine and exotic. It is also a breeding ground for many migratory birds and so a
good place for bird watchers.

6. Sand Dunes at Hunder:

Nubra valley is full of surprises. It is also one of the greenest valleys you will come
across in Ladakh. Hunder is beautiful village in the middle of this valley known for its
mysterious sand dunes. It is believed to have been formed out of a river bed that dried
or got washed o by forces of nature like rain and wind. It also oers camping
facilities. It has a small population of two-humped camels called Bactrian camels,
that can be spotted and are like an attraction of Hunder.

7. Khardungla Pass:

Located at an altitude of 5,360 meters, Khardungla Pass is among the highest
motorable roads around the world. It is continuously overown with slush of mud
and melted ice water. The 2,000 meters climb from Leh to Khartungla will oer some
exciting view of Leh and the mountains beyond, i.e., the Zanskar Range. Some
adventurous folk prefer to paddle down on cycle rather than hiring a taxi. Other than
the snow covered peak and the cold, theres nothing much to see but the view is
rewarding.

8. Gompas and Stupas:

Literally there are forests of gompas everywhere in Ladakh. Sometimes you would see
stupas even at the most unexpected places. These religious monuments are an
integral part of the land. They are as old as their civilization and have experienced the
test of time. These holy structures against the desolate landscapes add dimension
and certain mysticism to the region.

9. Vast open space and mountains:

This may come as a surprise but youve to cover around 500 km from Manali to reach
Leh and this road is a quite an experience for bikers. The diverse landscapes are just
amazing to watch. After a hundred kilometers or so from Manali, the conditions
became too harsh for habitation. So theres a vast stretch of mountains unoccupied. It
was a relieving sight to me after the suocating and overburdened plains of Central
and North India. There are no inhabitants for some 300 km or so. It is just you and the
road. You will see some of the most breathtaking sights in your entire life. Ive always
thought the journey is as important as ... (more)

ITINERY

DAY 1- ARRIVAL AT LEH

The tour of the amazing Ladakh will start from Leh, where you will be assisted to your
hotel by our representatives from the airport. Today it is all about taking some rest
and acclimatizing, which is extremely vital as we will be gaining quite a lot of altitude
over the next few days. After taking sucient rest, we will be visiting the famous Leh
Palace, the royal palace of the Namgyal Dynasty of kings which overlooks the desert
city of Leh and the Hall of Fame museum, located 4 kms from the main town,
depicting the bravery and valour of the Indian army that they have exhibited in these
remotest of regions in the country. We will come back to Leh and prepare for the
fascinating tour that lies ahead.

DAY 2- SHAAM VALLEY

The second day is a packed schedule with some pretty amazing sights to witness. A
visit to the Shaam Valley is just the ideal start to this magnicent tour. After an early
breakfast we will head out towards the dierent marvels of Shaam Valley which
includes the Magnetic Hill also known as the Gravity Hill. The layout of the area and
surrounding slopes creates an optical illusion that the downhill road is actually an
uphill road. We will also visit the ruins of Bagso Palace, Nimmu which is the
conuence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers and the famous Alchi and Likir Monastery.
A day packed with awesomeness indeed.

DAY 3- LEH TO NUBRA VALLEY

So after a captivating day at Shaam Valley, are you ready for more awesomeness.
Unbelievable as it may sound, Nubra Valley will capture your imagination to such an
extent that the memories of that place will stay with you for an eternity. Think about
green pastures and small picturesque villages overlooking a string of barren, arid
mountains. Think about white sand dunes and age old monasteries adding to your
visual pleasure with the mountains for company. That is exactly how Nubra Valley
can be described. After an early breakfast, we will start for Nubra Valley where
enroute we will visit the many wonders of Nubra. The mighty Khardung La pass, the
breathtaking Samstanling Monastery and the amazing hot springs of Panamikin the
most picturesque location will surely make you realize why Ladakh is rightly called
Heaven on Earth. Overnight stay is in Diksit.

DAY 4- NUBRA VALLEY TO LEH

After such an amazing day yesterday, it was time to make things even better.
Surprised, right? Well we should remind you again that Ladakh never ceases to
surprise us. Today we will enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Yarak Tso and then to top
it o, why not indulge ourselves in a bit of camel riding on the white sand dunes of
Hunder. Sounds fascinating right? After this, we will return to Leh in the evening.

DAY 5- LEH TO PANGONG TSO

26/09/2017 (3) What are the best places to visit in Leh-Ladakh for 6 - 7 days in June or July? - Quora
After all the unforgettable experiences of the previous days of the tour, it is hard to
imagine that one of the jewels in the Ladakhi crown is still waiting to be explored.
That jewel is none other than Pangong Lake. Situated at a height of 4,250 meters, far
away in barren land in Ladakh, Pangong Tso is one of the largest brackish lakes in
Asia. The crystal clear blue lake sprawls over an area of 100 kilometers across the
borders of two countries in India and China. It is one of the most charismatic lakes in
the world and certainly a place which will leave you speechless.

DAY 6- PANGONG TO TSOMORIRI

The next day, we will be preparing to visit yet another beautiful lake of the Ladakh
region. Also known as Moriri Lake, Tsomoriri Lake is positioned at an altitude of
15,075 feet and the largest lake in the Ladakh region. 7 kilometers wide and 19
kilometers long, this beautiful blue lake plays host to a large number of ora and
fauna. As the distance between Pangong and Tsomoriri is quite a lot, the activities of
Tsomoriri lake will be scheduled for tomorrow.

DAY 7- TSOMORIRI TO SARCHU

The day will start with exploring Korzok, which is a picturesque village adjacent to
the Tsomoriri lake and famous for its picturesque location and a beautiful monastery.
After exploring Korzok, we will start for Sarchu, where we will be staying overnight
before we reach our eventual destination Manali. But Sarchu is beautiful in its own
right, with a picturesque barren landscape resembling Ladakh, although it is on the
Himachal Pradesh border and also providing ample opportunities for trekking
adventures. You will get to spend the night in the tented accommodations of Sarchu
under the starry night and reminiscing the fascinating adventure of Ladakh that has
been captivating your senses till now.

From Sarchu, the next day you can travel to Manali and then head back home.
