Alhambra: The Treasure Chamber General Disribution of Treasure chests?

Author: ColtsFan76
Question on the component count - I am going through the Big Box and making sure I have allpieces.

Rules say there are 42 chest in teh 6 colors but don't describe how many of each I should have. Since everything else is symmetrical in this system, I thought that would mean 7 of each color.

Instead, I have 5 each of Red and Blue; 7 each of Brown and White; and 9 each of Green and Purple. Is this correct or do I need to contact RGG?

Answering my own question, it appears my memory of "everything being symmetrical" was incorrect. It seems the colors are skewed as above. What confirmed my confusion was Neil Thomson's review that there are 7 of each
color. That must have been an oversight on his part.

Brian,

While I by no means have a hard confirmation of your issue, I just wanted to chime in and say that this was the first "issue" I noticed when unboxing too. My heart sunk w hen I realized "Well hell, I've extra of these colors, but
fewer of these colors. Dammit!" because I just assumed with there being 42 total treasure chests, and 6 colors, that there'd be 7 of each.

After looking through the rule book a bit more, and seeing how the building tiles are skewed too, I realized it made sense to have the treasure chests skewed the same way.

So, you're not alone! I went looking at the Queen Games website for any further information, but couldn't find anything.

I think it's safe to say though that you're right.

My Big Box has 47 treasure chests instead of 42...

5 Red
7 Brown
7 White
9 Green
9 Purple
10 Blue

I guess they accidentally doubled up on the Blues?

Hi Brian,
This is absolutely correct.
Hope that helps and all the best from Germany

I also got my chests wrongly distributed.

I got a total of 43. Instead of 42.

5 blue.
6 red.
7 brown.
7 red.
9 green.
9 violet.

Knowing that total should be 42 and that the initial buildings are not equally distributed I supposed there was an extra red on the mix. Seems that I am right.

Having just gotten the Alhambra Big Box I was also checking all the components and I also seem to have got a wrong distribution of treasure chests, getting only 41 instead of 42.

I got the following:

4 blue.
5 red.
7 brown.
7 white.
9 green.
9 violet.

But from your comments I can at least get the right distribution, so now I just need to make another blue from some piece of wood.

Thanks
Ren Boe

Sounds like a good idea, but his reply is 3 years old and sending a single blue wooden piece from the US to Denmark would probably be too expensive for a game part where the shape has no real meaning, its just a token. It
would have beeen something else if it was one of the cardboard pieces or cards where it would be more difficult to make one that would fit in without being readily discer nible from the others.

...and I no longer have my Big Box. Sorry.

Thanks for asking that. I was just wondering the same thing. I think it is especially confusing because in the page before for the street trader it has 7 of each colour.
