Dear Parents and Students of Hanna Eagles,

Hello, my name is Mrs. Myers and I will be your child’s World

Geography teacher. I would like to welcome you to my classroom. As we all
know, education is the foundation for a better future. Geography in particular
helps students to progress to a higher level of understanding of how the
world works. I know I can help your child grasp the basics of very complex
environmental issues. The concepts that will be presented to them will be
done in a way that helps them understand their use in our everyday life.

Parental Involvement is the key to help a student meet his/her full

potential. Therefore I:

• Encourage you to participate in your child’s learning.

• Invite you to come and visit with his/her teachers as often as possible.

• Will contact you as I see necessary to discuss your child’s standing in

my class.

• Advocate using the class website which details when major

assignments are due and keeps you informed about the
lessons we are covering in class. In addition, it allows you to
email me directly from the website, so I may answer any
questions/concerns you may have regarding your child.

Sincerely,

Mrs. C. Myers

Classroom Guidelines:
1. It is expected that all students will be inside the classroom and
taking their seat when the final bell rings. I will be taking
attendance as soon as the bell rings and students arriving late
will receive a “T” on the attendance. I will give pop quizzes at the
beginning of class. If you are not in class on time, you will not be
permitted to take these quizzes unless you have an official
excuse from the office.

2. It is expected that students will bring the necessary supplies to

class each day (pen or pencil). The notebook we will use for class
will be kept in the classroom and should stay stocked with paper.
All other materials needed for class will be provided.

3. Vulgar or obscene language is not acceptable within the

classroom. Always strive to be respectful of both your teachers
and classmates.

4. Electronic gadgets such as cameras, cell phones, and music

devices are strictly prohibited during instruction. One warning
will be given to put the device away before I am required to
confiscate the device and turn it in to the office.

5. Restroom passes will be given freely except during instruction

and during testing. In addition, only one student may use the
restroom at a time and any student that is tardy will lose their
privilege to use the restroom unless they finish all their work. If
you have special needs, please see me.
6. In the event that you are absent from class for whatever reason,
it is your responsibility to come ask me for the makeup
work/notes we completed the day/s you were absent. I will be
happy to meet with you during lunch or before school if you need
help completing the assignment.

7. If absent, you are still responsible for any Reading Study Guide
homework posted on the website. Makeup tests will only be
given before school and made by appointment. Expect to have a
different test. Re-tests are available with a max score of 70%.
Any student skipping class will not be allowed to make up the
daily work or the test given that day. Cheating in the form of
talking, texting, note passing, etc. will be an automatic zero!
Don’t compromise your integrity.
8. School policy sets the exact number of days that you are allowed
to have unexcused absences from class. I do NOT believe in
giving out credit appeal applications no matter what your grade
is in class. However, I am ALWAYS available if you need extra
assistance before school or have any questions about the
material we are covering.

9. Each student may make up work until the 5th week during a 6
week grading period, however, I recommend that you makeup
work within 1 week of returning from an absence. If needed,
books may be checked out from the office and taken home to
complete assignments. I urge parents to check out books at the
beginning of the school year!

10. If you need to see the nurse, please ask for permission and
I will write you a pass to see the nurse.

11. Part of the classroom environment includes positive cooperation.

It is expected that all students will complete all assignments
during the time allotted in your specific period. This includes
class work, notes, projects, etc.

12. As a teacher, I have a responsibility to always be fair regarding

each situation with each student. I promise to come to class
prepared each day with a meaningful and engaging lesson that
pertains to World Geography. I promise to devote as much time
necessary outside of class to help you grasp the content area. I
promise to strive to be a caring, challenging teacher that pushes
you to be the best student you can be here at Hanna High
School.

Grading Policy:
The learner’s grade is based on the following scale and the following
calculations.

Daily Work 33.3%

Don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can
go as far as you mind lets you. What you believe, you can achieve.
Mary Kay Ash

A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage,
the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice
the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.
