Circuit Description:
The start enable device 1 circuit (ether injection) is used by the ECM to control the ether injection system during cold
starts. The start enable device 1 circuit (ether injection) controls the injection of ether into the air intake in order to allow
a better start under cold engine conditions.
Component Location:
The ether injection solenoid location is dependent on the OEM. Refer to the OEM service manual.
Shop Talk:
There are multiple ECMs for the engine models included in this manual. Each ECM has an individual source address that
displays when the INSITE electronic service tool is connected. When troubleshooting a fault code, use the source
address displayed in INSITE to determine which ECM and circuit is affected.
Possible causes of this fault code include:
Open or short circuit on the start enable device 1 circuit (ether injection) driver signal
Defective ether injection solenoid.
