Fault Code 1378

Post-Oil Filter Pressure Sensor Circuit - Voltage Below Normal or Shorted to Low Source

CODES REASON EFFECT

Fault Code: 1378 Post-Oil Filter Pressure Sensor None on performance. No engine protection for
PID(P), SID(S): Circuit - Voltage Below Normal or post-oil filter pressure.
SPN: 3549 Shorted to Low Source. Low signal
FMI: 4 voltage detected at the post-oil
Lamp: Maintenance filter pressure sensor circuit.

Circuit Description:
The post-oil filter pressure sensor is used by the electronic control module (ECM) to monitor the lubricating oil pressure
after the oil filters. The ECM monitors the voltage on the post-oil filter pressure signal pin and converts it to a pressure
value.

Component Location:
The post-oil filter pressure sensor is located on the outboard side of the oil filter head.

Shop Talk:
There are multiple ECMs for the engine models included in this manual. Each ECM has an individual source address that
displays when INSITE electronic service tool is connected. When troubleshooting a fault code, use the source address
displayed in INSITE electronic service tool to determine which ECM and circuit is affected.
The post-oil filter pressure sensor shares SUPPLY and RETURN wires in the engine harness with other sensors. Opens
and shorts in the engine harness can cause multiple fault codes to be active. Before troubleshooting Fault Code 1378,
check for multiple faults.
Possible causes of this fault include:
SIGNAL circuit open or shorted to ground in the engine harness or sensor
SUPPLY wire open or shorted to ground.
