Metrobank EMV Chip Cards

EMV Chip Technology is now a built-in feature of Metrobank Debit Mastercard!

EMV stands for Europay, Mastercard and VISA a global standard for credit, debit and prepaid payment cards
based on a chip card technology. Chip technology provides increased security and protection from fraud and other
account risks.

Benefits

Reduces Fraud
Chip cards provide better fraud protection than traditional cards when used at a chip-enabled terminal. Each card
has an embedded microchip that encrypts cardholder information and communicates with the terminal to
determine whether the card is authentic. This provides an added layer of security when making face-to-face
transactions.

Provides Global Payment Interoperability

The EMV standard has already been adopted globally and has significantly reduced counterfeit card fraud. It's a
smart card that's already a standard around the world.

Easy and Convenient Shopping

The card is simply inserted into an EMV chip terminal when making the purchase at point-of-sale (POS).
