Objectives : By the end of this lesson Ss will be able to :

- Identify and use the verb to be in the simple present correctly.

-Differentiate b/w short forms and full form of the verb to be.

Stage / Time Activity Procedure

Warm-up -T greets Ss: Good morning
3 min -T. asks : How are you today?
Presentation - T. asks one students: whats your name S. says My name is ..
20 min -T asks another student: where are you from? S. says: I am from Morocco
T. asks another student (girl): How old are you ? S. says:I am years old
T. writes the 3 sentences on the BB.
1- My name is
Context setting 2- I am from Morocco.
3- She is .. years old
-T. asks Ss to find the subject and the verb in each sentence.Then he circles the
verbs (is , am , is).
Isolation and -T. says these forms are the verb to be in the simple present.
explanation Eliciting T. elicits the subject pronouns from the Ss. And draw a chart in which he
introduces the verb to be with all subject pronouns in the affirmative, negative, and
interrogative forms (short and full forms).

20 min -T. asks Ss to do Ex.3 p.11

Fill in the blanks with the right subject / personal pronouns (I, you, he, she, it, we,
they):
