Configuring drivers.
1) Make sure the key on the CPU is in the run position. RS Logix will prompt you to change from run to
program mode via the software.
2) Select RS Linx from the program files or your desktop icon.
3) Select the communications tab and select the configure drivers section.
Under available drivers you can select for RS-232 (AB_DF-1DH+). This is from COM
port 1 to channel 0 on the CPU. This requires a 25 pin to a 9 pin parallel cable with a null
modem adapter in-line at COM port 1 on your laptop.
The next window that you will see is for configuring drivers.
Make your selection for the type of communications you are going to use. Whether this
may be RS-232 or 1784_PCMK/B card. For RS-232 connect your cable from comport 1
to channel 0 on the CPU.
Choose the driver and then select the auto configure button and it will set up your
protocols automatically. If you are successful the window next to the auto configure
button will display the message.
For the 1784_PCMK/B card you need to select the driver 1784 KT / KTX (D) / PCMK/
PKTX (D).
Select the add new tab and the configure Allen Bradley 1784 KTX /KTD window will
appear. Go to the value section of this window and click on the arrow. Then select the
PCMK line. The window should have a new title of configure the Allen Bradley 1784
PCMK. Double click the ok button and this will close this window.
On the configures drivers window you will see AB_KT-1 DH + STA 0 SOCKET 1or 2
running. Socket number will vary depending on where you have plugged in the card.
Now you should be back at the main screen. Select the communications tab with the
communications cable connected and double click the super who line. This will show you
some boxes. Station 0 is your computer and then you will see a box with the program file
name and a station number.
