LESSON ORGANISATION (based on: AC:HPE)

Intention:
The intention for this session is to be able to pick up a ground ball both stationary and not stationary. This would be more suited for beginners or those wanting to
improve their basic ground skills.

Pre-lesson organisation:
- Set up the warm-up drill rob the nest
- Have drill 1 set up
20 cones
10 footballs
10 bibs

Beginning class organization:
8:30- - Bring all the students in so that they are sitting in front of the teacher
8:35am - Revise the Key teaching points of picking up a ground ball
(5min) - Explain first activity

8:35- Warm-up 5 Rob the nest

8:45am - Divide children into four groups of
(10min) even numbers. Place all balls in the
middle of the playing area, spacing
them well apart.
At the sound of the whistle, children
converge on balls, taking one at a time
back to their corner (nest). When there
are no balls left in the middle, children
may rob other nests.
- At the start of the game, the coach
may ask children to move in certain
ways while retrieving balls, such as
hopping out to ball or rolling the ball
back to nest.
- At the end of the game, children
count the balls. The team with the
most balls at the end are the winners.
Repeat.

Bridging organization
- Get all students to collect a ball each and line up behind a cone
- The teacher will then give instructions once everyone is in position

DRILL 1 Keep eyes on the ball at all times.

Children roll a ball between the cones
using the nger tips of both hands.
Variations: use right or left hand only;
foot dribble; relay races.
2. Body in line behind the ball in a semi-
crouched position.
3. Extend arms with ngers almost
touching the ground, palms towards the
ball. 4. Pick up the ball cleanly with both
hands.

- Keep your body behind the ball.

- Bend your knees to get down to the
ball.
- Keep hands close to the ball.

 Bridging organization
- In the same teams as the above drill get them to line up with one person as the leader
- Explain what the first activity is then proceed to explain second activity
- Blow whistle in between each activity

- Instruct the groups on what the activity game involves

Skill game: Mr Sleepy Head

- Children form a circle, with a helper
coach in the middle.
- Helper coach has two balls and
randomly throws the balls to the
children, trying to catch them to guard.
- If a child drops the catch, they run
around the circle back to their position.
Children can throw the ball back to the
helper coach only when he/she is
looking.

Closing Organisation:
Have the winning team collect all the cones and bring the balls in (all equipment in)
Everyone place the bibs in the tub
All balls in the bag
Everyone seated
