1. Selecting the Machine


Selecting the Machine

1. Select the name of the machine to perform


nesting on from the pulldown menu.

2. Selecting the Nesting Data When loading pattern data from SDD
The following describes the procedure for
loading pattern data from SDD.

1. Click the System Setting button, select


Database on the System tab to "SDD" and
click OK.

One-point Advice:
This operation is not needed next time.

2. Click the Nesting Schedule button.

3. Select the Part icon.

4. The data selection window is displayed.


Specify the folder, and double-click to select
the pattern data to nest.
When selected, the pattern data changes
color to red.
(Clicking the Add button also results in the
same operation.)

5. When Input Quantity is selected, the


quantity entry screen is displayed. Enter the
quantity.

The number of parts (quantity) can be


entered in this entry screen or in the nesting
schedule later on.

One-point Advice:
The default when Input Quantity is not
selected is "1".

6. When the data is selected, the Selected


Parts window is displayed. In this window,
you can delete parts or change the quantity.

7. When you have finished selecting all data,


click the Open button at the bottom right.

8. This completes selection of the data.


A list of parts to nest is displayed.

The quantity can also be changed in this


list.

One-point Advice:
Checkboxes are provided for each part.
Parts whose checkbox is selected are
nested.
To perform nesting divided over several
operations, deselect these checkboxes.

3. Editing Part Properties


Editing Part Properties

1. Left-clicking the gray area to the left of the


row for the respective part selects that part,
and Cube Image and Unfolding Image can
be checked.
Right-click a selected part, and select Edit
Parts Properties.

2. In the Parts Properties window, you can


set the quantity and nesting method for
each part.

You can move between parts with the Parts


Properties window displayed by clicking
Previous and Next at the bottom left of the
window.When you have changed contents,
click the Apply button and then move
between parts.

Select Data
Pattern Pattern data
Attribute When using data edited at Light
Data Attribute Edit described later:
Assignment When assignment was
Data performed in the past in this
software, and saved data (part
assignment information) is used:
NC Data When using NC data made on
AP100

One-point Advice:
Normally, pattern data is used. However,
when using the Assignment Data above,
perform assignment beforehand by this
software, right-click on the Nesting Results
Window, select Save SY5 in Sheet and
save the assignment data to SDD.

Quantity
When the number of parts is set between 15
to 20, this means that the required number
of parts is 15, and that five extra parts
should be made as the filler parts if there
are empty spaces of materials.
For the Prototype quantity, enter the
quantity to be made as prototypes.

Dates
The Process and Due dates can be
entered here.

Material
Set the material type, thickness and name
here.

Laser Materials
Sets the laser materials.

Priority
When Production Schedule at the Nesting
Preference is selected, this priority is
referenced. The smaller the priority number,
the higher the priority becomes. (Default is
"2".)

Group ID
To perform nesting across multiple sheets,
change this group at Nesting. (Default is
"2".)

Rotation
Not Allowed Rotation of parts is not allowed.
Free Rotation of parts is permitted.
(Select Free when specifying
Common Line Cutting or Pair.)
Use Sheets Parts are laid out at 0 to 180
Grain Angle degrees so as to be parallel with
+ - 180 the grain in the X direction of the
Degrees pattern made on the AP100.
Use Sheets Parts are laid out at 0 degrees
Grain so as to be parallel with the
Direction grain in the X direction of the
pattern made on the AP100.
Rotate 90 Parts are placed with the pattern
Degrees rotated 90 degrees.

Common Line Cutting


Nesting is performed using Common Line
Cutting.
Grid Nesting is performed using
Common Line Cutting in a grid
pattern.
X direction Nesting is performed using
Common Line Cutting only in the
X direction.
Y direction Nesting is performed using
Common Line Cutting only in the
Y direction.
ALA Logic Nesting is performed using
Common Line Cutting after the
part is reversed.
ALA Logic Nesting is performed using
(Pair by Common Line Cutting after the
Rotation) part is rotated.
Common Common line cutting is performed
with Other shared with other parts.
Parts

Enter the maximum quantity in the X and Y


directions at Fixed Qty.

3. Settings can be made in more detail by


clicking the Advanced button in the Parts
Properties window.

One-point Advice:
Normally, detailed settings need not be
made. Select this item in the case of sketch
nesting (nesting from materials of the same
size as the part) and special grid processing
(nesting parts in a grid on the entire sheet
with the quantity of parts ignored).

Saving Nesting Schedules

1. Nesting schedules can be saved under a


new name by selecting File - Save As on
the menu bar.

One-point Advice:
Light Attribute Edit

When making CAD joints on the AP100, the


position of the joints can be checked in the
nesting schedule window.

1. Left-click the gray area to the left of the part


to check, and right-click the same location
to select Light Attribute Edit.

2. The position of the CAD joint is displayed.

Joints can also be added or deleted here.


All joints can be deleted to instruct the
approach position.

When joints and approaches have been


added, the message "Save?" is displayed
when the Lite Attribute Editor window is
closed. Select Yes.

When the property of the newly edited part


is viewed, data selection will have changed
to Attribute Data.

4. Executing Nesting
Executing Nesting

1. Click the Make Sheet button in the figure on


the left to start nesting.

One-point Advice:
This operation can also be performed by
closing the Nesting Schedule window and
clicking the Auto Execute button from the
main window.

2. During execution, the progress bar is


displayed.

3. The nesting results are displayed.

When the Expand All is Done after


Automatic checkbox on the View tab under
System Setting is selected, the sheet
opens and is displayed as shown in the
figure on the left.
When this checkbox is not selected, one
line is displayed for one sheet. To manually
open the sheet, click the cross mark.

One-point Advice:
When Result View - Drawing is set on the
View tab under System Setting, the
drawing method can be selected and the
height of the display area can be changed.

4. Materials are automatically selected based


on the Material Selection of the Nesting
Preference. However, when the Use Wizard
for Sheet Size/Name checkbox is selected
on the System tab under System Setting
and nesting is executed, the materials to
use can also be selected manually. A list of
candidate materials is displayed. Select the
checkbox for the desired materials, and
click OK.

5. Check Nesting Results, Outputting Reports and Saving NC


Programs
Checking Nesting Results

1. If the Result item in the nesting results is


marked , then there is no problem.
If the item is marked , clicking this mark
displays a warning. Check the content of the
warning.

2. Right-click on the sheet. A menu is


displayed.
If you select Display, you can toggle display
of Move, Arrow of Direction, Sequence
Number, Parts Number, Error No., Bend
Line Mark, and other items ON/OFF.

When a wheel mouse is used, operating the


wheel enlarges/reduces display and
double-clicking the wheel auto-scales the
display.

3. You can also check parts information, the


error list and the NC program on the tab on
the right of the window.

One-point Advice:
When Information Area is set on the View
tab under System Setting, display items
can be selected and the width of the display
area can be changed.

Outputting Reports

1. To output reports from the sheet window,


right-click on the sheet and select Output
Report.

2. Select the checkbox of the report to output,


and click OK.

3. The report that is output can be checked on


screen.
To output reports to the printer, click the
printer icon.

Saving NC Programs

1. To save NC programs from the sheet


window, select Save NC Data.
Select the save destination folder. The NC
program is saved to this folder appended
with a program No.

2. When multiple sheets are generated, NC


programs can be saved at once.
Clicking the sheet No. area highlights it in
blue. Highlight the sheet to be saved.(You
can also select plural sheets by selecting
with the Shift key held down, and you can
add or delete sheets with the Ctrl key held
down.)
Right-click on a highlighted sheet, and
select Save NC Data.

(A Word of Advice Regarding Saving - Save Schedule)


Saving schedules is handy when you have
bought the schedule management software on
the AP100/PCL.

1. Instead of saving the NC programs by the


above method, right-click on the sheet No.
and select Save Schedule/Output Report.
(There is no need to highlight the entire
sheet to be saved.)

2. The Save Schedule window is displayed.


Enter the schedule name, and select the
Save Schedule checkbox.

3. Select the checkbox of the sheet to save.


(You can also rename sheets at this stage.)

4. Also, select the Report Output checkbox if


you want to output reports at the same time.

5. When you click OK, the window changes to


the save window. Select the folder to save
the sheet to, and click the Save button.

6. When saving is completed, the window


changes to the save confirmation window.
Click OK.

7. The report output window is started up, and


the report that is output can be checked on
screen.
To output reports to the printer, click the
printer icon.

(A Word of Advice Regarding Saving - Save Sy4)


With regular saving of NC data, only the NC
data is saved. So, if you want to reuse and edit
the nesting results, this data to be called sheet
information must be saved in advance.

With the Save Sy4 function, the nesting result


of the selected sheet and its nesting schedule
can be saved together as a single file.

1. Select and highlight the sheet No. to save.

2. Right-click on a highlighted sheet, and


select Save Sy4.

3. Select the Save Sy4 checkbox in the save


dialog box.

4. Select the folder to save the data to, enter


the program No. and program comment,
and click Save to save the data.

5. To call up this data, perform new processing


again, and select the Part icon in the
nesting schedule window. (green unfold
diagram icon)
The data selection window is displayed.
Select and open the saved sheet
information.
The nesting schedule and nesting result are
displayed.

Proceeding to Simulation

1. To check the sheet NC program by


Simulation, select To Simulation.

6. To the Next Nesting


Executing New Nesting

1. To execute the next nesting, click the All


Clear button in the main window.

7. Selecting the Nesting Data When loading pattern data from DXF/DWG
This operation is not required when pattern data is not to be loaded from DXF or DWG.
The following describes the procedure for
loading pattern data from DXF/DWG.

There are two ways of loading DXF/DWG


data.

1. One way is to select the pattern data in


Windows Explorer.

Open the folder containing the DXF/DWG


data, and directly drag-and-drop the
DXF/DWG data onto the Nesting Schedule
button.
This loads the data.

2. The other way is to switch System Setting.

Click the System Setting button, select


Database on the System tab to "File", and
click OK.

One-point Advice:
This operation is not needed next time.

3. Click the Nesting Schedule button.

4. Select the Part icon.

5. The data selection window is displayed.


Select the folder containing the data, and
select the load type at Files of Type.
Thickness and Unit also can be set.
In this state, select the data to load, and
click the Open button. The data is loaded.

6. A list of parts to nest is displayed.


The quantity can also be changed in this
list.
