Interview Report with Mr. Feri

On Tuesday, September 5, 2017,
our team had visited PT Promosindo
Midia Tenaga (PMT) in Pondok
Pinang, and here is the summary of
our conversation.
What does PT PMT do?
PT PMT is mud logging service
company that contracted by the oil
company such as Pertamina,
Medco, Humpuss patragas, Husky,
Java Petroleum, and many more.
They do some interpretive science
involving the detailed analysis of
the rock cuttings and hydrocarbons
carried to the surface by the drilling
fluid. Then organize the information
in the form of a graphic log,
showing the data on a representation
of the wellbore. This information
helps the wellsite team and
stakeholders determine the presence
of oil and gas, reduce reservoir
uncertainty, mitigate hazards, and
optimize drilling efficiency.
What is your job description and
the team?
Mud logging is all about team work.
Mr. Feri as Data Aquisition &
Technical Analysis (DATA)
Engineer is responsible for
analyzing all geological data during
operations and preparing all final
logs and reports for Well-Site
Geologist and the Company Man.
DATA Engineer as team leaders is
responsible for the wellbeing and
cohesion of the unit team.
Meanwhile, mud logger is junior
DATA Engineers who collect
compilation task about drilling data,
gathering information and creating
a detailed well log. As a mud logger,
they monitor and record drilling
activity, providing information
about the well status during the
extraction of oil or gas, which will
be evaluate by DATA Engineers.
To become a DATA Engineer, a
mud logger must be Pressure
Engineers first, after that they can

be a DATA Engineers if they be a
Pressure Engineers for enough time,
and after be a DATA Engineers for
10 years they can be a Well-site
Geologist.
What is the important
parameters in mud logging?
