My experience with GAS TESTING Interview

Exact 3 day before the exam, I received call from my friend regarding the
information of the Exam.
I was in Rajasthan for Adani Kawai Power Plant project. I took leaves. Came to
my home town Nagpur.It was my First attempt for GT. Needless to say that I
had very less preparation for the challenge.Some how just for excitement I
decided to attempt the Exam. I visited the centre on schedule.
They asked me to enter in Lamp Room to identify the flame %.Myself entered
in the Room.
It was complete dark room, facilitated with two Chamber.They asked me to
identify the % and let them know my observation.Just for fun I tried to blow
some air from my mouth towards chambers.
Sir- "what are you doing boy? "
Myself- " Sir, Me ensuring that there is No Crack in Chamber."
Sir- " ok. Take your time. "
Myself- " Sir.. I have never attempted this kind of exam before. May i see this
chembar and properly?"
Sir- " ok. " (smile)
I took one complete round around the chamber. I noticed there is a " T" shape
tube as the gas source for both chembar but there was single regulator.
I said nothing but it was in mind that both chamber containing same amount of
gas.
I relaxly checked both chamber and answered "Sir.. Its 2.5% in Chamber 1
&......
Hmmm... 2.5% in Chamber 2 also. "
Sir- " Boy! You are correct for one of chamber but other one is wrong. You
should check one more time i suggest. "
Me got confident that i am correct still i took time. Checked one more time.
Myself- " Sir.. If you wish fail me.. But i know its 2.5% in both. "
He asked me the justification for my Ans.
I just given repeat telecast of theory as i learned and practiced as written in
books for 2.5% flame. He asked me to leave the chamber.

Next round Sub-Area Room-
I entered in room. I smiled. Wishend him for the time.He ask me to sit.
Sir- " Suppose this room is a mine....."
Myself- " Ok.. If you say so.. " (I looked complete room quickly)
Sir- " Do you know what are these instruments and their use, purpose?"
(pointed towards numbers of Instruments kept in front of us)
Myself- "Yes. Sir. "
(actually i was familiar with flame safety lamp, self rescuer only)
Sir- what this instrument and how we use this?
(pointed towards Flame safety lamp)
Me feel so happy inside and luckiest person of the world that time. Because I
had prepared only flame safety lamp. I just started giving the explanation of
flame safety lamp full theory knowledge.
Without asking him I started to demonstrate the use inside the room.
Sir- " do you know Assembly and disassemble of flame safety lamp? "
Me- "Yes. I know"(infact i had no idea about that time.)
Sir- "Show me. Do it"
Me- "Sorry. I can't. "
Sir- " you just said you know the assemble and disassemble of flame safety
lamp."
Me- "Yes. I still say that i know. "
Sir- "Then do it.. "
Me- "I can't do it here sir... At the beginning you ask me to consider this room
as a mine..... It is against the rule to disassemble the lamp inside the mine.... "
(excuse for my words but actually i was trying to save myself)
He laughed and ask me to leave.

3rd round DGMS
He asked me some 5 que

1. Cowards diagram
2. Standard of ventilation
3. Quantity and quality survey
4. Atkinson equation
5. % of CO allowed in mines
I answered upto 4 que easily and satisfactory way.
At 5th que i replied " sir.. Sorry. I forgot. I just now read the allowable % of
CO.."

Sir- " hey! C'mon.. You can't answer like this. At least you should guess some
figures..."
I interrupted him.. "sorry.. I can't guess sir.. I can't take chances with many
lives working inside and trusting on me..
I will learn, remember and next time tell you the correct answer. "
He asked me my contact number and wrapped my interview.I given him my
number.
Came out with strong belief that I won't be able to clear the exam.
After 4 days my one of Friend called me and informed that i have succeeded to
clear the exam.
