Cancer Research Project

This collaborative research project focuses on what happens when cells do not function correctly. We
have been learning about cancer in general in class, but now we will have the opportunity to pick a specific
type of cancer and research it in more detail. Many people are affected by cancer; you may even have some
family members or friends that have or have had cancer. The goal is to research a specific cancer and orally
present information and recent research through a group PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation.

Due: _______________
Delivery: You will present your Powerpoint/Google Slide presentation to the class in addition to e-mailing the
presentation to Ms. Hunter at mariana.hunter@hsps.us.
Presentation (5-10 mins): Everyone in the group must participate in the presentation. All presentations should
be presented without reading directly from the slides. Be capable of talking about your work without assistance!
Expectations:
Your slides will be neat, orderly, clear and succinct. They should be creative and include
graphics/images.
Do NOT put tons of information on a single slide, keep the slides clear and to the point. Any additional
information you can share verbally with the class.
Any work we do in the computer labs at school will be focused and on-task. Off-task behavior (playing
computer games, listening to music, watching random videos, etc) will result in lost points!
When presenting, everyone will speak loudly and clearly.
When presenting, students will face the classroom.

The best way to succeed with this project is to divide and conquer. You can assign different aspects of the
project for each member to research and then build your final presentation together. You will be responsible for
your part of the research, and everyone will get the same grade, so be sure to support your group! Use the
space below and/or your notebooks to record some of your research. Remember...it will be checked!
