Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will set up the specific unit on the Government for students to
reference either during the school day or at home. This site allows the teacher to look at graded material
and can very easily tie in the lesson plan. The students will be able to watch a brief tutorial and complete
fun activities to demonstrate understanding of the specific content. The teacher can use this to implement
either before or after the lesson. The teacher can use Brain Pop to introduce content to students, or have it
as a final way for students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. While using Brain Pop,
students can watch the tutorial and complete the fun activities within a day or two. The teacher can have
the students focus on one specific activity per day. At the end of the lesson, the students are required to
take a quiz. The teacher can use this to grade the students. After using Brain Pop as part of a lesson, the
teacher will ask the students to make a graphic organizer to show their understanding of how the American
Government works and to explain why government is vital to society. The students will also be able to use
their understanding of government and use this toward other more specific parts of social studies in other
classes or grades. To conclude the lesson, the teacher will have a ticket out the door question for students
to answer based on the material that was taught during the lesson and what they saw and learned using Brain
Pop.
