Is it true?

Your character and personality is depends on your blood type?

Outline :

Short history about blood type and The beginning why people believe these myth.

Blood group system as we know it was developed by Austrian scientist in 1900, and already in 1927
Takeji Furukawa, a professor at Tokyo Womens Teachers School, suggested personality types and
blood groups must be related. He has backed it with his own observations, and the theory quickly
spread in Japan and beyond. While it wasnt a big hit in the Western world, it is taken very seriously
in Japan, South Korea and some other Asian countries. In 1930, Takeji Furukawa contributed to the
classification efforts by choosing blood as a physiological classification characteristic; Furukawas
assertions caused an impact that would shape the next eighty years of popular Japanese culture. In
the 1970s numerous books revived public interest in the subject, peaking in 1984-1985 with a total
of 204 publications discussing the link between blood type and personality. From this foundation,
blood type categorization, or ketsueki-gata, firmly established itself into Japanese culture. The
author of the book is Masahiko Nomi, whos actually has no scientific or medical background, either
phsycologhy. He was just a journalist.Though his book wasnt valid, he served a few convincing
statistics data which made people deeper believe to this issue.

So, why people still believe these thing? Because many people feel that the forecast is match with
our personality.

We could explain this fenomena by the phsycology theory. At least theres a three theory that could
explain this fenomena. First of all is a Barnum Effect. Simply, this theory says that people always
think if theres an information that delivered to us, mostly we think/feel it is the correct one. This
also explained by the Self Fulfilling Prophecy, which says that something could happen because we
expect it happen. If its only a myth, why our friend with the same blood type has a same personality
with? This phenomenon explained by confirmation-bias theory which says that people tend to find
an information to convience them about something they believe.

The truth is, however, that not much information exists for developing an informed opinion about
the validity of blood typing. In a Google search of "blood type personality," the first pages to appear
are those detailing the "science" of blood type personality, and they can be quite convincing. At one
site, for example, readers can find labeled chemical structures of blood types and detailed analyses
to clarify further the "science." True science is doing a poor job of conveying its counter-message, so
pseudo-science dominates.

In fact, there were cases of discrimination based on blood group in workplace and schools.
Japanese even have a special term for this type of discrimination bura hara, or blood type
harassment.
