Demographics - Tirora
As of 2011 India census, Tirora had a population of 25,181. Males
constitute 50% of the population and females 50%.
Tirora has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the
national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is
67%.
In Tirora, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Industry - Tirora
The main business of the town is Rice Mill, Shops, business and
Grain Trading.
Adani Power Maharashtra Limited (APML), is 3 km from Tirora-
Gondia state road. Adani power ltd gets coal from nearest railway
station Kachewani. An 85.89% subsidiary of Adani Power Limited is
implementing 3300 MW Thermal Power Station in Tirora.

Location:
The plant is located at MIDC Growth Centre, Tiroda in Dist. Gondia on Bhandara Gondia state
highway (SH-249), at a distance of 125 KMs from Nagpur which has major commercial Airport.
The nearest major Railhead is Gondia on Mumbai Howrah rail route at 30 KMs distance from
Plant.
The nearest sea port is at Mumbai at a distance of 985 KMs. The plant is located about 328.25
Meters above Mean Sea Level.
The maximum ambient temperature at plant location is about 47C and annual mean relative
humidity is 58%.

Plant Details:
This is a coal based super critical thermal power plant.
Adani Power Maharashtra Limiteds Tiroda Plant has the state of the art Supercritical
Technology which is fuel efficient and environment friendly.
The plant is located on 454.86 hectares of land which houses the major equipment.
For uninterrupted coal supply, there is an Rail under Rail (RUR) on the busiest Mumbai- Howrah
rail route.

Resource Management:
The fuel requirement of the plant is presently met through sourcing of domestic coal upto 4.91
MTPA under Fuel Supply Agreement with subsidiary of Coal India Ltd. Balance requirement is
met through coal available under MoU, E-auction from various subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd.
and import.
The plant has water requirement of 5.5 Million cubic meter per month which is sourced from
nearby Wainganga river.
APML has undertaken numerous initiatives towards Fly Ash utilisation generated during the
power generation process.
The plant is equipped with latest pollution control equipment such as high efficiency
electrostatic precipitators- the largest in Asia, Dust extraction & Suppression system.

Adani Vidyalaya, Tirora (AVT) Earning a Strong Reputation in Education: With an enrolment of just 30
students, the Adani Vidyalaya, Tirora, was started in 2014. Today, it has 117 students. Over the past

three years, the school has grown considerably and caters to the children of Adani employees as well
as from the surrounding communities. Every year, the school conducts a number of curricular and co-
curricular activities as well as different exhibitions for the overall development of students.

About the Project:


Workshop on Lac Bangle Making a Colourful Livelihood: Lac is considered to be the oldest source of
colour, and it has always been very popular. Lac bangles and jewellery are adorned and appreciated by
women since generations. The Adani Foundation, in collaboration with the SARDA Organisation,
conducted a ten-day workshop on lac bangle making for SHG women from the nearby villages of Adani
Power Maharashtra Limited. In this skill training programme, women participants acquired practical
knowledge on making attractive bangles and various jewellery items from lac. Apart from it, they also
learned skills of packaging and marketing of these bangles and other jewellery items which will enable
them to earn handsome income.
