Computing for Standard Error:
Possible sources of Error:
Disregarding Temperature
Pipetting at an Angle
Tip Wiping
Failure to Pre-Wet Pipette Tip
Poor pipetting skills
Choosing the wrong micropipette
Uncalibrated analytical balance
Conclusion
The accuracy of the micropipettor refers to its performance relative to an accepted value. It is
computed by solving for the percent error between the experimentally measured volume of the
solution and the volume that is expected. The accuracy of micropipettors lessens when they are
set to measure volumes closest to the lowest values in their range. Possible sources of error
include disregarding temperature, pipetting at an angle, tip wiping, failure to pre-wet pipette tip,
poor pipetting skills, and choosing the wrong micropipette.
