#TheLeaderIWant
As a Filipino it is my right to vote. I have I right to choose to a leader that will help our
country economy and save our dying county. We should choose a leader that both has a moral
excellence and academic excellence. Election, both local and national has been a very
controversial issue for the longest time. We have heard of different cases such as vote buying,
flying voter and etc. This only decreases the credibility of the choices of people we can put into
power. It is really good to see that the Filipinos are actively participating in one of the greatest
and historical events of the country, the 2016 Philippine election. This 2016 election in my
experience has flooded most controversy especially in social media. I have noticed some bullies
and funny epic post about the candidates. I am not into anyone of the candidates all of them has
their own perspective to run and lead the country. I have no right to say anything about peoples
opinion. We are under democracy government so we all have the power to exercise our right. To
those who aimed for the countrys change, please at least do some effort to contribute for the
change, start with us. Elected leaders will do their duties to govern our country but these leaders
need cooperation from all of us to do it as well. Not only those assigned to rule but even you as
ordinary individual are a big help for our country. I am a supporter of Miriam Defensor Santiago.
But I have a lot of respect to the other candidates because indeed, they are all deserving to hold
the title. And I believe that the wise voters are those who stick to their candidate himself or his
competitors.
It is my first time to exercise my right to suffrage. Choosing the best leaders is one of the
hardest decisions Ive made. I dont know if these leaders will make a change in local or
national. But before the election, Ive heard a lot of controversies, vote buying everywhere and
anywhere. In national election Ive been rooting for Miriam, before I casted my vote I knew
shes far from winning. Several people told me that I am wasting my vote even my parents.
Whatever happens, I am proud to say that I voted the most deserving president we will never
have and I have no regrets. I have this feeling that she will not make it and it pains to be
witnessed of it. I grieve for Filipinos because of their ignorance, and their willingness to go with
the flow and to jump on the bandwagon. When it comes to elections in this country, the question
is no longer whether vote buying is happening or not but how much money is involved. Leaders
allowance, vote protection by whatever name its called, it still involves money exchange for a
persons vote. Whoever has the machinery to ensure that money reaches electorate. And that is
reality. I wake up in the morning early to casted my vote. It was 8 in the morning when I enter
the polling precinct. I waited for 1 hour to vote the lineup was so long. I feel so very nervous. I
dont know what I will do when I enter the room. I am bothered if my vote will invalid and if this
will happen, I feel so dumb and I dont know what will happen next. For me it is between a life
and death situation. When the teacher gives me the ballot and and pen, I sit down at the corner
praying for the best outcome and praying my vote will be casted and would not be invalid. I am
shaking when I shade the president. I inhale and exhale before I precede shading the vice
president senator and local officials. I vote straight for the local official because my tito was
running sangguniang bayan. I spent 30 minutes voting. When the pcos received my vote
suddenly a receipt appears. I dont know what I should feel. I feel so happy and overjoyed, it is
my first time to experience such history. After that the teacher inked my fingernail, proving that I
casted my vote. I went home to eat my lunch and observed the surroundings in the school. A lot
of supporters of both political parties was there. I really dont know why are some people
wearing ids as watchers. Ive been watching news all day long just to observe what is
happening. I heard a lot of controversies especially in local election. In some part of sapian, a lot
of registered voters got inked without casting their sacred vote and paying them as much of 500
pesos. My family was so nervous that time if our candidate will win. My family been so actively
participating in politics. At evening my family decided to go at polling precinct just to know the
winning candidates. Surprisingly, my tito won as sanguniang bayan ranked number 1. But our
candidate mayor didnt win with the re-elect mayor. I am so pissed at that time, a lot of people
say they want to have change in our town but why they keep voting the corrupt re-elect mayor?
And there are lot deserving candidate for the sb member but not yet win, so ironic. Therefore I
conclude that if you have money you will surely win even you dont t deserved that position.
Politics is now a business. After we knew the winner, we decided to go home. Then I heard a
news that Miriam got the lowest cast of vote. Im so pissed again, but I accept it. All we know
that Miriam is the most deserving among the candidate but not even win and got has lowest cast
of vote. People did not choose her it is because of her health, she shall be die anytime but no our
country is. People didnt see her worth, she is the woman of honor and glory serving the Filipino
for almost of her life.
To those who aimed for the countrys change, we should do some effort to contribute,
start with us. Elected leaders will their duties to govern the country but these leaders need
cooperation from all of us do to it as well. Not only those assigned to rule but even the ordinary
individual are a big help for our country. May God will bless and touch each other heart those
who have been elected to lead our country. Those who did not win, be humble and support for
the best of our country. You may be defeated to become leader yet you can do something
progressive even not being called a leader. Countrymen will not pay you but the one above will
reward you more than earthly things can offer you. God bless Philippines! May this will be the
start of a new journey. Let us help our country to rise.
