Section 501-14: HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Rear Door Latch (413520)

Removal

1. Remove the rear door trim panel.For additional information, refer to Section 501-05.

2. Remove the side impact energy absorption panel.


3. Remove the screw (if equipped).

4. Detach the door latch remote control.

1 Detach the handle from the door panel.


2 Detach the door latch remote control.
5. CAUTION:
Do not touch the adhesive surface as re-bonding will be impaired.

Peel back the watershield.

6. Disconnect the door latch actuator electrical connector.


7. Remove the exterior door handle access hole grommet and remove the window guide runner.

8. Note:
The screw must be fully disengaged from the exterior door handle cover although it is not
necessary to fully remove the screw.
Loosen the screw.
9. Remove the exterior door handle cover.

10. Remove the exterior door handle.

1 Slide the exterior door handle to release.


2 Remove the exterior door handle and gaskets.
11. Remove the screws.

12. Note:
The screw must be fully disengaged from the exterior door handle although it is not necessary
to fully remove the screw.
Loosen the screw.
13. Detach the door latch.

1 Press the door latch to release.


2 Remove the door latch.

14. Detach the door latch from the exterior door handle reinforcement plate.

1 Press the clip to release.


2 Detach the door latch from the exterior door handle reinforcement plate.

15. Remove the exterior door handle reinforcement plate.

 Rotate the exterior door handle reinforcement plate 90 degrees counterclockwise.

16. Remove the door latch connecting rod.

 Rotate the door latch connecting rod 90 degrees counterclockwise.


17. Release the door latch connecting rod adjustment clip.

18. Remove the door latch

1 Detach the door latch remote control outer cable.


2 Rotate the door latch remote control clockwise.
3 Remove the door latch.

Installation

1. Install the door latch remote control to the door latch.


2. Install the door latch connecting rod.

 Rotate the door latch connecting rod 90 degrees clockwise.

3. Install the exterior door handle retaining plate to the connecting rod.

 Rotate the exterior handle retaining plate 90 degrees clockwise.


4. Install the exterior door handle retaining plate to the door latch.

5. Install the door latch.

1 Slide the door latch into position.


2 Press the door latch to engage the locking tangs.
6. Note:
Do not tighten the rear door latch screw at this stage.
Install the screws.

7. Note:
Install the gaskets before locating the exterior door handle.
Install the exterior door handle.
1 Locate the exterior door handle.
2 Slide the exterior door handle until it locks into place.

8. Tighten the exterior door handle screw.

9. Install the exterior door handle cover.


10. Tighten the exterior door handle cover screw.

11. Press the door latch connecting rod adjustment clip to set the latch position.
12. Connect the door latch actuator electrical connector.

13. Install the window guide runner and install the exterior door handle access hole grommet.
14. Tighten the door latch screws.

15. Re-bond the watershield.

16. Attach the door latch remote control.

1 Locate the handle into the fixing.


2 Attach the door latch remote control.
17. Install the screw (if equipped).

18. Install the side impact energy absorption panel.


19. Note:
Two audible clicks should be heard when the door latch lever is closed completely.
Close the door latch lever in the jaws of the door latch.

20. Lock and unlock the door latch using the rocker lever on the door latch remote control handle.

21. Open the door latch using the exterior door handle. The door latch should open at
approximately 75% of handle full travel. The exterior door handle should have between 5-6 mm
of travel after the door latch has released.

22. If the door latch does not open correctly remove the door latch and reset the door latch
connecting rod adjustment clip.

23. Install the rear door trim panel.For additional information, refer to Section 501-05.
