Time: 50 minutes

Lesson aims:
- to communicate with each other about things they have in
common.
- to be able to describe a human being.
- to be able to describe clothing using present continuous.
- to be able to use have/has got to describe facial expressions.

Skills involved: speaking, reading, writing.


Anticipated language problems: Ss may be a little bit noisy during the first
speaking activity. They may also have difficulty in communicating freely and
having a spontaneous dialogue.

Possible solutions: T tries to encourage them in the activities she had prepared
for them always encouraging them and telling them not to be afraid of making
mistakes, telling them that mistakes are their best friends. Teacher tries to elicit as
many ideas as possible from Ss.

Materials: cards, worksheets, textbook, blackboard.

ACTIVITY 1. Warm-up

Aims: to make Ss feel comfortable in the class.

to motivate and involve Ss by means of personalisation.

Procedure: T asks the Ss: How are you today, Who wants to tell me what is
the weather like today? Ss answer the T questions on turns. Then T while
showing them some pictures tells Ss a joke: an old woman in a shop Id like a
pair of crocodile shoes! Shop-assistant: What size does your crocodile wear?

Timing: 3 minutes

Interaction: T whole class.


ACTIVITY 2. Checking homework

Aims: to check accomplishment of given instructions.

Procedure: T asks Ss what was their homework for that day. Ss answer that their
homework was...... Then Ss read their homework on turns.

Interaction: T-whole class.

Timing: 7 minutes.

ACTIVITY 3. Linking previous knowledge to the new material( speaking activity)

Aims: to review Ss knowledge on human body.

to create interest in the topic.

Procedure: T asks Ss to try to remember some ways to describe a person.What


devices do we use, for example Eyes, Hair, Face and even clothes. T ask them to
describe her. Ss try to describe the Teacher saying: You have green eyes, brown
hair, round face. Then T asks :What about my clothes what can you say? T
helps them giving the beginig: You are wearing..............., and the Ss have to
continue.

Interaction: T- whole class.

Timing: 6 minutes.

ACTIVITY 4 . Introducing new language

Aims: to be able to use the newly acquired language.

Procedure: T tells Ss to open their books on page 55, to pay attention to ex. A,
and to try to match the numbers with the correct words. At the end of the activity
T asks them to tell her if they have unknown words. T explains Ss the words they
dont know. Then T tells Ss to read the five texts given there and to try to identify
McCann in the picture. Pay attention that you are told that only agents V, X and Y
were right, the others were wrong.

ACTIVITY5. Practice

Aims: to be able to find the missing words in a few phrases.

Procedure: T tells Ss that she will give them a handout ( annex2) on which they
have the description of a few people but each description has a few words which
are missing. They have to use the words given above the descriptions to fill the
empty spaces. T reads the first sentence and gives the learners an example.

Interaction: Pair-work

Timing: 10 minutes.

ACTIVITY 6. Production

Aims: to describe a famous person they have on the card received.

Procedure: T tells Ss that they are going to receive some pictures of famous
people in the world( annex3) but also in their country. In pairs they have to
describe the people using also the new words, the clothes they are wearing, all the
information they can give about the famous person they have on the photos they
receive. T gives them an example describing the picture of Andra, the singer.

Interaction: T whole class.

Timing: 10 minutes.
ACTIVITY 7. Giving homework

Aims: to practice more the new vocabulary.

Procedure: T tells Ss that their homework for the next time will be to make the
description of a person, and also to bring a photo or a poster of the person
described to show it to their colleagues in front of the classroom while making the
description. T appreciates their activity during this hour, she gives those who were
active and very active a red point. T also wants Ss to help her with the activity
called TODAY S AGENDA. For this activity Ss together with the T establish all
the steps of the lesson which has just finished. T writes the steps of the lesson on
the blackboard ant the Ss in their notebooks.
