Personal Sustainability Project:

Mini Vegetable Garden and Vegetable Day in School Project

I. The Rationale or Objectives of PSP:

a. The first objective of this project is to teach students on how to create or
build their own mini vegetable garden that they can do at home.
b. The second objective of this project is to eliminate the use of hazardous
chemicals on the planted vegetables to make it more healthy and organic.
c. The third objective of this project is to encourage students to have a
healthy lifestyle, specially those students who do not eat vegetables by
requiring them to eat their self-planted vegetables on their mini vegetable
garden.
d. The fourth objective of this study is to implement a once a week vegetable
day in schools. Wherein, students should bring a vegetable snack or lunch
every Friday.
e. The fifth objective of this study is to make sure that every student will not
only practice planting and eating vegetable at school but to make sure that
they continue to plant and eat vegetables at home.

II. Methodology
To implement this project, it requires schools and universities who have an
open free field to construct a mini vegetable garden. Furthermore, students must have a
HELE (Home Economics and Livelihood Education) subject that teaches different
planting techniques, dos and donts in planting, and other information in planting that can
help them in creating or building their mini vegetable garden. Moreover, the schools and
universities must have planting tools and vegetable seeds that students can use in making
their mini vegetable garden. On the other hand, to implement the vegetable day in school,
every Friday students should bring their own vegetable lunch or snack to practice
themselves in eating vegetables regularly.

III. Evaluation
To determine the success of this PSP:
a. Firstly, students must be successful in creating their mini vegetable
garden.
b. Secondly, the planted vegetable must not use any hazardous chemical but
must use natural and eco-friendly fertilizer in growing their vegetable.
c. Thirdly, students must record their consumption of vegetable every Friday
to see if the project is successful or not.
