Tess Frameworks:

Domain 1: A- I have had a college professor that was extremely knowledgeable in his field of
study, which was the entirety of the human body and its functions. This was shown through him
not only teaching it, but having very applicable analogies and ways of teaching so that it would
stay with the students
B- In high school I had a substitute teacher that was very personable with my class as seniors.
She was very good at teaching because she was able to communicate to all the students what the
lesson was trying to communicate. Also she was sure to celebrate birthdays for all students even
though she was a temporary substitute.

E- Last semester I had a teacher who I never could seem to figure out how to do their
assignments for. I spoke with this teacher many times, but every time I did she made it more and
more frustrating and confusing. I had so much trouble in the class that I eventually failed because
I could never properly do her work. So being able to communicate with your students well is a
huge deal so that they are able to follow the class, and so that the substitute will be able to take
care of the class well.

Domain 2: B- Creating a culture for learning is extremely important. If the students feel nervous
or scared or are unhappy they are less likely to succeed or even try their hardest in the class. A
teacher from high school was very good at doing this. He was very personable and would joke
with the class, but balanced it well so that even though we were friendly with him we knew he
was in charge, and that when we needed to do work or be serious he was able to get our attention
quickly.

D- I had a teacher that was very good at dealing with student behavior. She would always try to
give them the benefit of the doubt, but when the students would go too far she would use a
certain tone of voice that wasnt louder or anything, but it was stern enough to make everyone
stop and start behaving. I feel that having that ability would be extremely helpful so that you
dont ever lose control of your class and can keep things on track as needed.

E- The same teacher from 2D was also good at Physical space in the classroom. She made sure
that every student was spaced out enough to be able to stretch and not see each others work, but
close enough and positioned in such a way that would be very good for her to have control of the
class, make it inviting, and make it feel fine and not like a prison like so many of my other
teachers have before.

Domain 3: A- Communication with students is crucial. This is not only important to get the
lesson across, but also to make sure your students are alright. By being able to be a mentor
through proper communication with students you can help these students achieve more, deal with
problems, and you will understand them more so that you will know how to deal with students
such as them later on and make sure they are getting everything they need out of the class.

C- By engaging your students in learning, you are furthering their understanding of the subject
much more. This teaching method helps because it makes it a more real thing to the students it
creates a personal level between them and the subject, and it keeps them involved with the
lesson. By keeping this going your students will also be able to articulate their ideas in
conversation better later on in their lives.

E-Demonstrating flexibility in a classroom is extremely vital for children to witness. If the

children do not they will not be able to learn to be able to adapt to things as well since they will
not have been exposed to it as much. By performing this, like in my ROTC class, and throwing
in changes in the plan out of nowhere it helps with critical thinking skills.

Domain 4: A- This is important so that you will know what you need to fix for next time. If you
do not reflect on your lessons they will never improve. ROTC always has an After Action Report
so that all the members involved can say what could have gone better, what was good, and things
we could do differently. This helps us to do better next time, and can think of how to make
things run smoother.

C- Communication with families is extremely important. If a teacher does not the parents will be
upset not knowing exactly what is going on with their childrens lives. Also the parents would be
able to be contacted by the teacher so that they will know the assignments and problems that the
children are having in class.

F- Demonstrating professionalism is important solely for the fact that you have to keep your
image reputable. If you are not presenting yourself well then you will not be perceived and as a
good influence on the children, a mar at the school, and overall unappealing to others in the
community. This is done by keeping personal and business lives separate.

Reflection of legal position of interns:

I feel that the legal position of interns policy at UCA is appropriate. It lays down the
ethics expected from them, the ins and outs of what will happen, and everything else the intern
will need to know. I also feel that this document is good due to the fact that it is easily accessible
and on the main page of the college so that it is easily found. It also lays out what the can and
cants of being an intern are and what kind of legal protection they have.

Portfolio Reflection: Overall I feel the portfolio was fairly easy due to the clear instructions for
most of it. The only problem I had with it was the part asking about the legal position of interns.
I feel it should have been explained what it wanted more, or at least show a link of where to go
instead of leaving it at legal position of interns. If that had been explained more I feel that the
entire portfolio would have been extremely easy to follow and complete. Otherwise it was very
well made and easy to follow for students.
