Sapardi djoko Damono in an indonesian famous poet. He was born in Solo, Central Java, on
20th March 1940. Now, he is professor Emeritus at the University of Indonesia.
His first poetry collection, Dukamu Abadi in 1969 may be seen as arebirth of Indonesian liryc
poetry. With clear, unadorned language and delicate awareness, his poems were an sharp contrast
to the slogan-riden language of the idiologically polarised Indonesia. In many of his later poems,
what stars as an ordinary event may suddentlytake a twist towards the unexpectedof the uncanny.
Sapardi djoko Danomo has produce many poetry collections, such as mata pisau, sihir hujan,
Hujan Bulan Juni, Arloji, Ayat-Ayat Api, Mata Jendela, Ada Berite Apa Hari Ini, Den Sadtro? And
kolam. He has also writen fictions and essays, and translated many engllish fictions and poetries.
During his life, Sapardi Djoko Danomo has received awards, such as the Putera Poetry Award
from Malaysia, the Jakarta Arts Council Literary Award, the SEA Write Award from Thailand and the
Achmad Bakrie Award for Literature.

I love music, so i join a music club at school. One instrument which i like to play is the
Kolintang. My school has Kolintang which is furnished and ornamented withthe embroidery of our
schools name at the front. These make the instrument look elegant. Becouse of this Kolintang, my
seniors have won many musical competitions and received many thropies. Their achievements
really motivate my ream to pass along their performances. Besides, we would like to preserve our
heritage.
Kolintang is originated from Minahasa, north Sulawesi. Its made from many kinds of wood,
such as telur, bandaran, wenang and kakinik. My schools Kolinttang is made from light but solid
local wood called bandaran which its febre construction appears in parallel llines. Bandaran wood
can produce a long sound whivh can reach high pitch notes as well as low ones when we hit it.
