Requirements/resources:
Video of Balloon Animals Pictures of Indigenous arts
Dancing Shapes Dance Video 5 packs Colored pentel pens
1 pack Skinny Balloons of different colors 5 pieces Balloon Pumpers
Facilitation/Implementation:
Introduction
Introduce the new activity about creating balloon animals. Play the video on
how to create balloon animals. Replay the video many times as needed.
Discussion
Provide clear instructions about the task in preparation for the Puppet
and Balloon Animal Carnival.
Provide demonstration in a step by step procedure together with the
students.
Design the balloon animals with different shapes of interest and or integrate the
aboriginal designs of interest that portray shapes.
Highlight that their end product must have a moving part.
Discuss safety precautions in using the balloon pumper and that
balloons should not be overloaded with air in order to abstain from
balloon bursting.
Ask children for questions in order to provide clarifications about the
activity and other related injuries.
Activity - Match Me In!
Instruct the children to go to their group (the same group as the puppet
creation).
Visit each group for facilitation and behaviour management purposes.
Play the Dancing Shapes Dance Video as background music.
Display their finished product in the classroom.
Strategic Intervention for ESL and Learners with special needs
Provide demonstration of creating balloon animals in a slower
instruction.
Provide scaffolding in order to provide clearer and easier hands on
activity.
Repeatedly play the Dancing Shapes Dance Video as background
music.
