1 question on simple interest and compound interest

Clock and direction- 28 th nov repeated

If in a clock, time is 5.15pm

And the direction of th at time is south-west. ( direction of what? Please help, question is not
clear)

Then what is the direction when it is 9.00pm? Answer is north east i guess. East? Whats the
answer? North east i guess

Yes. North east how ???

Was nort west an option?

if at 5:15 it is south-west, then it means that 3 represnts south, 6 west, 9 north and 12 east. thus
at 5:15 it is showing the direction of the hour hand and therefore at 9:00 the hour hand will be at
9 which means the time shown should be north. please correct me if i am wrong. thanks!

The above logic seems good, it should be either North or North West? Please confirm if either of
these were an option.

16. Fact and conclusion based question, no syllogisms (3-4 questions )

17. In a computer system you had to input numbers from 1-300. However the number key
2 was not working. How many numbers can be formed? Ans? (Repeated 28 2:00) (30
nov)(same question was asked but 162 was not there in the option. Options were :
130,131,159,160,161) repeated 2 dec (2nd December 11:30 Slot)

In this case 160 could be the possible ans since 160 is not there, either 1 or 300, or both if
excluded can be the ans, ques needs modification.(Please Correct)

Answer : 162 (confirm guys) 162 was NOT AMONGST THE OPTIONS (there is no option
of 162. options were : 161 , 160 159 etc number less than 161(anyone wirte the ans,)

There are 19 numbers which have 2 in it between 1-99 and similarly between 100-199.
There wont be any numbers between 200-300. Hence, --38=161 and 300 so total 162..
200 itself has 2 so total it doesnt count

Between 1-99 and 100-199 (19 each so 19*2 =38) between 200-300 (99 wont count, only
300 will=99) so answer is 300-(99+38) 137= 163

Iam getting 163? I am also getting 163.

Ans is 162- (1-99:19) (100-199:19)(200-299:100)(300-300:0)

300-19-19-100=162

language was ambiguous. Please avoid those and look for direct question say weak and
strong arguments)
33. A paragraph was given about an office scenario. Questions were asked like: the four
values that company is following are given in option, find the odd one out < not
mentioned in paragraph>.

34. CATCH=41 Delhi =63.What does PANIPAT stands for. <question incomplete> logic

es, I had
my exam today 28th Nov and there were two such questions.

You are a manager and you have an employee in your team who is very
good employee, but lately he is staying sick and he has made a mistake in
an important task which you found out before the task was submitted, what
would your action plan be, keeping in mind that you have to care for both
the organisation and employee?(2nd December 11:30 Slot)

a. You would talk to hr and report

b. You would talk to his friends so that you can ask them to convince him
to visit a doc
c. You will discuss with him about his mistake and suggest to him that
he goes and sees a doc(i went with this option as he is a good
employee and measures should be taken to improve the situation,
talking to the hr or friends i found indirect, if there is a way i can
handle a situation directly i would go for that)
d. Discuss about his performance in general and warn him(
generalisation suddenly why?) (30 Nov 2pm)

You are friends with your boss and a subordinate in office and recently
something has happened between both of them and the boss has put up a
complaint to the hr. What would you do when the hr calls you over to
discuss and talk and get more insight about this issue

a. Not attend the hr meeting and avoid it cause you are stuck now.
b. Resolve amicably(normally hum aisa karte par yahan i dont think yeh
option sahi hoga)
c. Discuss and attend the meeting with the hr and give him fair
inputs(looks like a neutral choice and fair and balanced one, helps to
put up thoughts across to the right perswrong . repeated 28 2:00) (30

RC Questions

How to do RC in NMAT EXAM

https://www.yout ube.com/watch?v=DP9upBHPCDI

RC1: Legalising gambling in USA . was it about nba(basketball)?? No It was about how states
raise funding by legalising ko gambling, example of Nevada was given. So it should be clear
that the RC was related to casino, etc in Las Vegas. CORRECT it was like this REPEATED on
24nov morning

Gambling RC repeat (easy) 24rd repeat

Searched a lot for it. Could not find the exact passage. For reference I will post some closely
linked passages/articles shortly.
http://www.tomorrowsworld.org/magazines/2001/july-august/legalized-gambling-economic-boo
m-or-social-bus This is the closest I could find. Hope that helps!

RC1 Link: couldnt find the link online

RC2: Autobiographies are meaningless these days - they should include real life facts (this is
the gist of the RC) (30 Nov 2pm)

If you can find online plz check that it should have the mention of Frey . what is Frey? ? Frey
is a person.

Basically the RC starts by explaining how autobiographies are written these days. Then later he
goes on to explain how Frey wrote his autobiography by mentioning real life facts (author is
praising Freys biography).

(Please read till the end and see if the passage was something like this?) Once he had signed
with Doubleday, reportedly for an advance of $50,000, the process of editing altered the book -
now billed as a memoir - further, timelines shifted, characters were erased, segments
rearranged. "So the idea that nobody at the publishing company knew it was a manipulated
manuscript is an absurd idea," he says. "I remember somebody at the publishing company told
me that if the book's 85% true there's no problem. Certainly that standard wasn't then applied
to it later." (This version of events is disputed by the publishers. Nan Talese, editor-in-chief of A
Million Little Pieces and the senior vice president of Doubleday, told Oprah: "A memoir is
different from an autobiography. A memoir is an author's remembrance of a certain period in
his life. Now, the responsibility, as far as I am concerned, is: does it strike me as valid? Does it
strike me as authentic? I mean, I'm sent things all the time and I think they're not real. I don't
think they're authentic. I don't think they're good. I don't believe them. In this instance, I
absolutely believed what I read.")

NO. Searched a lot for it still could not find the exact passages for both RCs in 9 am slot 21 Nov.

RC3: Rc on how internet news is revolutionising the news industry, moderately tough it has a lot
of tone and strong and weak argument questions, so pls ache se padhna

QA Questions
1)Sachin has 2 leather balls, 3 green balls and 2 cork balls. He picks up 2 balls at
random. What is the probability that both the balls were not cork balls? (21 Nov)
(question repeated in 11:45 slot 25th nov)(30 nov)

ANS it should be 10/21) (24th] 10/21 confirmed.(mark this as the answer )

It should be: 1- 2C2/7C2 = 20/21

How do we know how many of the leather balls are green? No? (These are 3 mutually exclusive
types of balls. Leather, green and cork.)

10/21 seems correct

Doubt: Probability of BOTH cork balls being chosen is (2/7)() = 1/21. Hence Probability that both
balls chosen are NOT cork is 20/21. If it had said NEITHER of the cork balls are picked. Probability
is 10/21. Focus on the language. Thoughts?

2) A square of maximum area is inscribed in an equilateral triangle. What is the

ratio of the area of square to that of the triangle? (21 Nov) (24th repeat)(11:45 slot

3) Pipe A takes 18 minutes to fill the tank and pipe B takes 12 minutes to fill the
tank. There is another pipe C which is an outlet pipe. A girl opens pipes A & B to
fill the tank and comes back precisely after the time at which the tank should have
been full. But when she comes back she notices that she forgot to close pipe C.
She immediately closes pipe C and exactly 3 minutes after that the tank becomes
full. For what time was pipe A kept open? ( 21 Nov)

Ans. (7.2+3) minutes??? Please solve this? Is 10.2 is the right answer?? | we
dont consider the time the outlet pipe takes ?

Yes this seems right 10.2(confirmed)(the lag in time is already given which is
caused by pipe c)

It takes 7.2 minutes for both of A & B to complete the work. Then A is open for
three more minutes.

I dont think so.What were the options. Confirm answer any1?

A and B takes 7 min 12 sec. After closing C 3 more min. So 10min 12sec. 10.2 is
correct

4C2 * 2 * 2) = 23040 [logic (6C2 * 4C2 * 2! 4C2 * 2 * 2) means First choose 2
balls out of 6, then choose 2 squares out of 4 in 1st column and
permute;Secondly choose 2 balls out of remaining 4 balls and permute in
2nd column; Third column permute remaining 2 balls)---this is correct..

16:-If a+b+c = ab+bc+ac , then find the value of a+b+c where a=1 (22 Nov)
what were the options (24th repeat) (30th repeat)

Answer - is the answer 3? 3 CONFIRMED a=b=c? - can you explain how a =

b=c.

Explanation: how a=b=c

Consider, a + b + c ab bc ca = 0
Multiply both sides with 2, we get
2( a + b + c ab bc ca) = 0
2a + 2b + 2c 2ab 2bc 2ca = 0
(a 2ab + b) + (b 2bc + c) + (c 2ca + a) = 0
(a b) + (b c) + (c a) = 0
Since the sum of square is zero then each term should be zero
(a b) = 0, (b c) = 0, (c a) = 0
(a b) = 0, (b c) = 0, (c a) = 0
a = b, b = c, c = a
a=b=c

15. If prize of an article goes up by 15rs, the profit goes up from 15% to 23%.
Find original price? Approach for this?187.5 y es

(23%-15%)=8% , change of 8% causes price to increase by 15rs

Now, 8% of cp= 15

Cannot understand this :(

Let the CP of article = Rs. 100

Profit1 = Rs. 15
Profit2 = Rs. 23
Profit = Rs. 8
When CP = Rs. 100, Profit = Rs. 8
So, when CP = x, Profit = Rs. 15
Cross multiply,
x = (100*15)/8 = Rs. 187.50

Q43) . x!42! Has 27 trailing zeros . find the x! , options were 77 , 31 , 22

[26th nov] Answer 77!(30 nov 2 pm)repeated 2 dec

Power of 5 in 42! Is [42/5]+[42/25]=8+1=9. So, power of 5 in x! has to be

27-9=18. In 77!, power of 5 is [77/5]+[77/25]=15+3=18.

Therefore, in 77!42! Has total 27 power of 5,i.e. 27 trailing 0s. Please check.

Q) ans to the equil. Tri. sum with circles in it is

Area of triangle is 9root3, radius of big circle is root3 since it is incircle of equilateral triangle, now for 3
small circles , join line from centre to incentre and using congruent traingles property ,we can get radius of
each small circle as 1/root3, so area of big circle is 3*pi and radius of each small circle is pi/3, so total area
of all circles is 4*pi . Hence the area of remaining part is 9root3 - 4*pi , hope i am clear :) Thanks
