CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND
Tegal is one of the cities in Central Java. Like other metropolitan city,
Maritime City has also been characterizing its territory with traffic jam. To
divert the density, in the near future will be built roundabout. Another
characteristic of a metropolis, among others, the availability of hotels and
malls, no sense-it has now been fulfilled.
As one of needs of citizen, Mall and Hotels are important to make
development of economic sector. As we know, Tegal has so many Mall and
Hotel, but its still not enough to fulfil citizen needs that always increase.
The need for a convenient place to shop, strategic, clean, fully
equipped and very comfortable in the interest of today's society. Many
supermarkets are built by investors aiming to answer all the needs of
today's society, one of which is Trasnmart Tegal.
PT. Transmart Retail Property as one of corporation that provide so
many mall in Indonesia, will invest their money to build Transmart Tegal.
Transmart Retail Property has a target to make Tegal become a smart city
and metropolitan like other city in Indonesia.
Transmart will make economic in Tegal increase caused their so
many job vacancy are needed. And of course that has so many benefits for
Tegal if Transmart will constructed.
1.2 PURPOSE AND GOALS OF PROJECT
Purpose and goals Objectives Tegal Transmart development is as a
place providing all kinds of goods and services needed by the community,
as well as a playground for the family, as well as support its economy to
add jobs in Tegal.

1.3 PURPOSE AND GOALS OF PRACTICAL WORK

The purpose of practical work which is to meet one of the
requirements to complete the study in civil engineering courses of civil
engineering department at the faculty of engineering Unswagati. Practical
work purpose is so that students can apply theory in the can during the
lecture into the world of projects and to provide experiences for students to
know the real working world and also to provide direct experience about the
state and activity of construction work on a project.

1.4 SCOPE OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES

Work on the construction of Transmart Tegal structure includes
foundation work and pilecap, tiebeam jobs, jobs slab, column work, and the
work of the beam.

1.5 SCOPE OF DISCUSSION PRACTICAL WORK

The explanation of the overall project will be explained in practical
work report after we finished the practical work. Working practices that can
be implemented only determined for 3 (three) months or for more than 90
calendar days.During the implementation of Practical Work is expected
gain knowledge in terms of the implementation of theory lectures in the
field, as well as practical knowledge in the implementation of projects that
are not available in college.
1.6 PROJECT LOCATION
Location of the project is located on Jl. Kolonel Sugiono No. 82
Tegal.

1.7 METHOD OF PRACTICAL WORK

1.7.1 Data Collection Techniques
The data can obtained by the writer in the following way :
- Observation
- Study Literature
- Advice from Supervisor
- Interview in the Field
1.7.2 TYPES OF DATA AND SOURCE OF DATA
The types of data and sources was divided in two, there are :
a. Primary Data
Observation
Interview in The Field
Documentation
b. Secondary Data
Shop Drawing (Bestek Drawing)
Project document data and form beside the photos and another
data.

1.8 SCHEDULE OF PRACTICAL WORK

Practical Work done during 6 (six) months that is 3 (three) months for
practical work in the field and three (3) months for the preparation of the
Report of Working Practices in the field started on May 29th, 2016 until
September 3rd, 2016.
