While the students are mixing the ingredients, use this time to talk about what they
know about 2D shapes and 3D shapes

What is the difference?

Can they locate any 2D shapes and 3D shapes in the classroom?

EXPLORE:

Hold up the objects- sphere, cube and triangular prism

Look at their faces, vertices and edges

What do they mean?

EXPLAIN:

Identify each object and their features- write this on butches paper and draw the
image next to it

Ask students to come up the front and identify a 3D object and their features

ELABORATE:

Use the play-doh to create 3D shapes

Students can use tooth-picks to create their shapes
