P3 Rodine 2010

1. Introduction:

P3 Rodine 2010 is a low toxicity, non-flammable, highly soluble, low

viscosity liquid metal loss inhibitor for use especially in
tetraammoniated ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) cleaning
solutions. These solutions are commonly employed for chemical cleaning
of metal oxides and scale from power plant boilers and pipelines. P3
Rodine 2010 not only minimizes ferrous base metal dissolution during
these cleaning operations, but also effectively inhibits pitting and
crevice corrosion of ferrous metal surfaces. P3 Rodine 2010 is ideally
suited for ammoniated EDTA cleaning at temperatures up to at least 300
Fahrenheit for periods of at least 24 hours. P3 Rodine 2010 is based on
novel chemistry, and is more soluble than other commercial inhibitors at
the high pHs typical in these cleaning solvents.

P3 Rodine 2010 advantageously permits post-oxidation and dissolution of

metallic copper deposits at significantly higher rates than other
commercial inhibitors in laboratory testing.

3. Buildup:

The amount of P3 Rodine 2010 providing the desired degree of protection has
been determined to be 0.10% by volume, based on the total volume of the
cleaning solution to be used (4% wt/vol as EDTA). 1.10% by volume is the
recommended amount to add to concentrated tetraammoniated EDTA (38% wt/wt
as EDTA).

4. Operation:

P3 Rodine 2010 is ideally added to the diluted cleaning concentration of

ammoniated EDTA solutions (i.e. 4% wt/vol as EDTA) in which it is 100%
soluble. If P3 Rodine 2010 is added to the concentrated ammoniated
cleaning solution (such as 38% wt/wt as EDTA) a small amount will "oil out"
on standing. This fraction is much smaller than current tested products.
This minor residue will subsequently rinse away with water or less
concentrated cleaning solution and can be flushed into the system being
cleaned if desired.

5. Storage Requirements:

P3 Rodine 2010 has low viscosity at normal temperatures and at low

temperatures. The freezing temperature is approximately -4 Fahrenheit.
For this reason, P3 Rodine 2010 can be stored at temperatures as low as 0
Fahrenheit when required. Frozen P3 Rodine 2010 only separates to a very
small degree after thawing and will reconstitute with minimal stirring at
normal temperatures.

6. Waste Disposal Information:

Applicable regulations concerning disposal and discharge of chemicals

should be consulted and followed.

P3 Rodine 2010 does not contain highly toxic compounds and is safe for use
with normal precautions (skin and eye protection from liquid and mist
recommended). Disposal information for P3 Rodine 2010 is given on the
Material Safety Data Sheet for the product.

7. Precautionary Information:

Before handling the chemical products used in the process, the first aid
and handling recommendations on the Material Safety Data Sheet for each
product should be read, understood and followed.
