RF-7800I Vehicular Intercom System
The RF-7800I Vehicular Intercom System is the customizable, reliable
choice for intercom communications any vehicle, any mission.
The RF-7800I is a comprehensive solution for in-vehicle voice and
data communication, tactical network connectivity, and battle
management system interoperability. The RF-7800I provides voice
and data connectivity among vehicle crew members while creating
a network backbone to integrate vehicle communication systems.
With a modular, configurable platform, the RF-7800I is not only
easy to install, but also is lightweight and power efficient.
Built to MIL-STD-810F specifications, the rugged RF-7800I
interoperates with the family of Harris Falcon tactical radios
as well as other military, government and commercial devices.
This allows crew members to communicate with dismounted
personnel and other vehicles or command centers through
HF, VHF, UHF, SPR and BGAN satellite communications technology.

A Highly Customizable System.

The RF-7800I provides integrated, all-in-one support for data and Ethernet
connectivity while its speech recognition and noise elimination technology
provide clear voice transmission in noisy environments.

Modular Components and Simple Cabling for Easy Installation.
The compact, modular design integrates seamlessly with a variety of combat net
radios including Harris Falcon products and is extensible to BMS and situational
awareness applications.

Central Unit
The Heart of the RF-7800I Intercom System
The intercom systems main component, the Central Unit, performs voice channel
switching and digital data packet routing between 8 crew stations and 4 combat net
radios. The Central Unit also has 4 general purpose serial ports, a Speaker Unit port,
and 2 Ethernet ports for full network integration. A light version is available for
voice-only applications with support for 4 crew stations and 2 radio transceivers.
The Central Unit provides clear voice communications using digital signal processing
technology that eliminates vehicle background noise for maximum voice intelligibility
for all crew members. In addition, the Central Unit monitors vehicle system status,
crew station controls, and crew station indicators.
The Central Unit, Crew Stations, and additional components are all software
configurable and upgradable through a simple, PC based user interface. This
application allows for the easy incorporation of feature enhancements and
reconfiguration of the system to support new mission requirements. The central unit
can be configured to provide notifications to the users in their native language.
The communication between the Central Unit and the Crew Stations is established over
a single, easy to install two-wire interface providing power to the crew stations and
ANR headsets, programming and real time configuration capabilities, duplex streams
of 64 kbps digitized PCM voice channels, and duplex streams of digital synchronous
communication with data and control signals of the serial asynchronous ports.
Crew Station Components
The RF-7800I offers three types of Crew Stations, each with
distinct user-interface capabilities and features:

Keypad Display Unit Rotary Dial Unit Basic Unit

The Central Unit interfaces to the Crew Station types in any combination to provide custom solutions
for any vehicle or command center application. Crew Stations allow operators to monitor selected channels,
conference with selected intercom users, monitor and transmit via radio transceivers, and access external
connections such as telephone lines. Each crew station comes in two variants: dual headset or a single
headset and a data port to support a PC or other network device.
 Intuitive User Interface and Flexible Functionality.

The Keypad Display Unit is customizable to the needs of the

specific users including the function and position of the icons.

Keypad Display Unit
The fully featured Keypad Display Unit provides real-time command and control of the intercom
and radios for maximum mission flexibility. This crew station offers a high resolution OLED screen
for displaying options, messages, and commands. The keypad drives the icons on the display
allowing the user access to the intercom and radio channels with a simple, single key press.
When selecting different options, operators receive audible feedback in their native language
as configured through the central unit programming software.

Harris Falcon radio users can take advantage of the Keypad Display Unit to remotely control radio
parameters. Users are able to navigate through presets, issue calls to radio network users, display
GPS information, and control power coniguration.
 RF-7800I-RD
Rotary Dial Unit
The Rotary Dial Unit provides operators with real-time selection of
16 pre-programmed modes of operation through a single turn of a knob.
Users can easily determine the Crew Stations or radio assets that are in
use by the status indicators provided at each dial position. When switching
into the 16 different positions, operators receive audible feedback in their
native language as configured through the Central Unit.

Second Nature Operation.

The Rotary Dial Unit allows the user to focus on the mission
and leverage the preprogrammed intercom system to streamline
communication. Switching into the appropriate position to
communicate with the team, make a phone call, or respond to
an alarm becomes second nature with just the turn of a knob.

Basic Unit
The Basic Unit provides operators with pre-programmed modes
of operation through a hands free plug-and-play interface. It is an
ideal solution for crew members who require simple voice and
data communications.

Easy, Hands-Free Operation.

The Basic Unit is preconfigured for voice and data communications
and is ideal for executing time sensitive, critical operations. With the
preprogrammed unit, the user can communicate any urgent message
quickly and reliably.
Additional Components

RF-7800I-SA
Speaker Unit
The Speaker Unit features an 8-watt amplifier
and a 5-step volume control knob. Its high-
power is ideal for command broadcasts or radio
monitoring. The system can be preconfigured to
simultaneously monitor any or all of the audio
sources connected to the intercom via
the speaker.
 RF-7800I-TA
Telephone & Alarm Unit
The Telephone & Alarm Unit provides seamless
integration with an analog PBX or a field telephone to
enable direct dialing from the Crew Stations. One unit
can connect a PBX and field phone at the same time to
support incoming and outgoing calls. The unit can also
provide networking capabilities with other intercom
systems through an inter-vehicle field wire interface.
The unit includes an alarm/sensor interface for monitor-
ing warning signals originated by vehicle subsystems The Telephone & Alarm Unit
such as engine, NBC and IR warnings. Events trigger a is configurable to detect the
following signals:
