UNIT 1: WARMUP

INTRODUCTION

The warmup is defined as the set of activities or exercises any physical activity
previously done in order to prepare the body: the respiratory system , the
cardiovascular system and the musculoskeletal system (muscles and joints) properly.

OBJECTIVES
To prepare physically, physiologically and psychologically for the start of a
more intense activity than normal individuals.
To prevent injuries.
To get a better performance.

EFFECTS
Effects on muscle contraction : heating and stretching the muscles increase the
elasticity and the temperature of the muscles , thereby decreasing the possibility of injury.
Physiological effects : improves the cardio - respiratory system (heart and lungs) and
neuromuscular ( nerves and muscles ) . Increases heart and respiratory rate.
Effects on accidents : there is increased risk to all types of injury when a physical activity
without warm up. It concentrates the mind on training.

UNIT 1: WARMUP

WARMUP PARTS

THE GENERAL WARMING : It is designed for the preparation of the whole

organism and is valid for any type of exercise regularly .
Within the general part we must differentiate:

PART 1: JOINT MOBILITY EXERCISES .

In this part we are seeking to stretch the muscles so that they are more
resilient and able to work better in more strenuous activities .
It will be held at least a stretching exercise for each body part .

2ND PART : EXERCISES WITH DISPLACEMENTS ( PUTTING INTO ACTION

SYSTEMS )
In this part we are seeking to mobilize (moving ) joints that will work on the
second part of the warming. With this mobilization prepare them for a more
intense activity than usual.

3RD PART : MUSCLE STRETCHING EXERCISES ..

In this part we are seeking to activate the cardiovascular and respiratory
system.

SPECIFIC WARM UP : is done after general and we do movements to perform the

activity that will develop later ( in basketball, after the general warming could make
entries to the basket, shots from various distances , etc. )
