Colloquium
An afternoon of wrapping BTSA up for the year.
PGR - Professional Growth Reflection
The last piece of official BTSA paperwork for the
year is the completion of the Professional Growth
Reflection. You may choose to complete it while at
the Colloquium or beforehand, as long as you bring
a printout of it on that day or email it to your
Advisor by May 21st.
Professional Development Units - Two Choices
You will be receiving information (or you have
already) about the choice you need to make
regarding hours vs. units for your completed
BTSA work this year.
Choice 1 - UCSC Extension Units
Depending on how much time you have
spent this year with BTSA, you can purchase either
5 or 10 quarter units from UCSC Extension. The cost
is $200 for 5 units and $400 for 10 units. These units
directly transfer to any district and help you
advance on the salary schedule. More units = bigger
paycheck! This is the fastest way to move up on the
salary schedule.

Choice 2 - District Hours
If you don’t want to purchase units, or if you are
already at the top of the salary schedule, you can
accrue up to 31 hours of professional development
for your BTSA work this year. There are three
options for you to choose from within the district.
We will give you that specific form at Colloquium if
interested.
Please let us know which option you are interested
in. It will be your responsibility to take care of the
paperwork for both choices. The deadline for
requesting UCSC units is May 30th.

Teachers Return to First Day of School
Work
BTSA for Next Year
First year teachers will need to complete one
additional year of BTSA in order to be able to file for
their clear credential. The state department of
education is in the process of making changes to the
requirements for BTSA. It is very likely that the
program will look differently next year. We will be
asking you to complete a short professional
development survey at Colloquium to give us some
feedback on how we can best meet your
professional development needs for 2008/2009.
For Those Moving On
Gita and Sandra want to wish you all the best of
luck in your new endeavors. It has been a pleasure
working with each and every one of you. Rest
assured that you will receive the necessary
paperwork and contact information to take care of
transferring your BTSA coursework if needed.
