MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering

Undergraduate education has been a great stepping stone in my stride to make a successful career. It is
during this time that I have truly zeroed on what I want to become in life. These 4 years would in no
doubt be a major factor in my future accomplishments. My years in Amity School of Engineering
opened to me the doors of vast sea of technology and science that lay ahead.
The curriculum including the latest tools at Amity School of Engineering has offered me ample
opportunities and helped me master various processor architecture and digital circuits
At the end of my undergrad years, here in Amity I have discovered that I generate huge affinity to
subjects like Microprocessor and designing using Digital Electronics logic. The reason has been
simple, the logical approach and assimilation of multiple components that work on some some simple
principal to form a complex system has aroused great enthusiasm in me towards DE. The effect of
Digital Electronics in world has been immense. Apart from bringing in new level of miniaturization,
the ability to modify the functionality of digital systems without changing the hardware but through
minor changes in programming is a great deal. In my post graduation stint with your university I crave
to work in this field. I would like to focus my work more on energy conservation in digital circuits and
error management/error control.
In my quest to gain an upper hand in digital science related technology, I was an avid participant of
workshops and internship programs. The first one was during the start of my 2nd year. In this workshop
I had the opportunity to have hands on experience with an ATemega8 microcontroller. I with three of
my friends designed a robot and programmed it. The robot was designed to work in 2 modes. Either it
could follow a particular color of line or it can also move according to remote signals provided by the
user. Other than conventional wireless remote control we also learnt how to control the machine using
bluetooth and using DTMF. Even though this project being a very fundamental one it completely
enlightened us and motivated to move forward in this field. It is worthy to say that my earlier
acquaintance with programming skills helped me in this project which used Embedded C, and also in
further projects that followed. I did my 3rd year internship from CDAC (Centre for Development of
Advanced Computing) , Mohali . An organization of the Department of Information Technology
(DIT), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT),India. Under the able guidance
of the highly esteemed faculty here my concepts of digital electronics particularly in sequential logic
was perfected. Apart from the world of elctronics and programming, I also cultivated an interest in
computer networking. I also took part in a network management program. The program was modeled
on Linux OS. The program basically emphasized on networking with Linux and learning networking
related concepts like Telnet configuration, FTP configuration, some basic network security methods,
Firewall configuration. The installation of Linux on Windows machine helped me understand how
selection of appropriate software is necessary for the right hardware output.

My primary interest revolves around the fields of digital electronics and hardware programming
language. My 3rd year internship at CDAC was on a home security system. It was a collection of
sequential and combinational elements and state machines. For me the best thing about this endeavor
was that I had implemented all my knowledge of different sequential and combinational elements like
parity checker, multiplexer, decoder,comparator,registers,decimal to BCD encoder. Assimilation of all
these components in a single project boosted my understanding of the subject immensely. A major
component of the whole system was the memory logic. There were 3 groups involved this project.
Fortunately my design of the memory logic required least coding and had fastest response.
Later the project was implemented on FPGA kit. This project received very high appraisal when I
presented it before my college faculty members.
Later on in my 5th semester I was introduced to Microprocessors( 8085). The logic and reasoning
implemented,explaining the architecture of microprocessor coupled with programming techniques
made this my favourite subject. Microprocessor is a just a complex system that is a collection basic DE
components like bus, latches, multiplexer,registers. My fascination for DE and aptitude for digital
architecture reached the next level after studying this subject. It is the zeal for further study of
microprocessor and digital hardware design that encouraged me to take Computer Engineering for my
MS. My final year project is also on the lines of architecture....................

Other than having an academic bend my love for this subject transformed into something else. I
have been always a member of senior students group that teach and help juniors in subjects they are
weak in. I was assigned Microprocessor and Digital Electronics. I loved helping out students and
clearing their concepts. Evening time 6-7 has become the best part of my day.
I understand that undergraduate course is just a basic understanding of different modules in Electronics
Engg. To take up much competitive role in an organization I need to have a stronger grasp over my
field. I have examined the diversity of research work currently undergoing in your university and am
highly interested to work with prof. ...................................................................
Given the opportunity I am certain that I will be able to exploit my potential to the fullest

I envisage a career where I make a commendable contribution to the computing world either by starting
an initiating innovative venture or be a part of a research team that aims to revolutionize the role
computers play in the human society.
