This letter is to introduce myself for an available position in your organization. I am a result oriented,
change agent and energetic professional who believes in business partnering. A qualified chartered
accountant, member Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, (since July 2008) and a chartered
management accountant, member Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK (since June
2011). In addition, I am a chartered global management accountant [(CGMA) since Jan 2012].

My recent role was with Oxford University Press Pakistan (OUPP) [which is a part of the Oxford
University/Oxford University Press, UK (OUP)], as the Finance Director & General Manager
(Commercial) where I managed the Finance, Accounting, Operations, and Information Technology
departments in addition to providing supervision to the Corporate Compliance programme. I
progressed through the roles of Finance Manager, Finance Controller, Senior Finance
Controller/Interim Finance Director, and Finance Director. I attended Asia Educations Divisional
BOD meetings on a rotating basis with my fellow General Manager. I was a member of the Senior
Management Team (SMT) equivalent to the Management Committee of OUPP. I reported directly to
the Chairperson with a dotted line responsibility to the Divisional Finance Director based in Hong
Kong.

I possess excellent interpersonal skills and not just coordinated with the local management but also
with the people from different cultural backgrounds in the Hong Kong divisional office and in Oxford
(head office) in the areas of finance, reporting, tax, treasury, operations, legal, audit, compliance
programme, and information systems (SAP).

Role and responsibilities

Highlighted/Identified the areas, challenging the norms for improvements, and cost savings
initiatives. Played an instrumental role in production cost savings project; in three years, gross margins
improved by 7% of sales (c. PKR 250m).

Played a pivotal role in securing the tax exemption certificate on dividend remittance (to the
UK) happened first time in the history of OUPP. Tax savings amounted to c. PKR 60m.

Being a member of the Senior Management team (SMT) was responsible for devising the
overall business strategy, and overseeing operations to ensure that the annual business plans are aligned with

Maintained all financial systems/processes and accounting policies (in SAP environment)
while implementing and enforcing organizational policies.

Ensured that the legal issues, taxation, treasury and SBP related matters are handled smoothly.

Being a member of the investment committee was responsible for evaluating and

Worked in the general accounting section of the Finance department as Assistant Manager, Accounts. Role and
responsibilities comprised finalizing the monthly closings (in liaison with the plant accountants). Assisting the
Senior Manager Accounts & Taxation in giving presentation to the CFO on the basis of monthly closing.
Maintenance of the general ledger and preparation of the closing files to corroborate the exercise.

Role and responsibilities

I joined KPMG Karachi as an audit trainee in May 2004. I worked as an Audit Assistant, Semi-Senior, Senior and
Assistant Manager. I was involved in the planning, review and completion of audits of financial institutions,
manufacturing concerns, and fuel & energy sector. Further, I got the opportunity to look into the tax matters of a
variety of clients in the managerial capacity.

International exposure

I was seconded to the KPMG Jeddah Office in April 2008 as an Assistant Manager. I engaged in the full scope
review of Bank Al Jazira performed under the terms of reference as agreed by the SAMA (Saudi Arabian
Monetary Agency). My roles and responsibilities were to examine the areas of Corporate Banking, Finance and
High level controls, and to prepare reports to be presented to the SAMA/ Board of Directors by summarizing the
observations, and suggested recommendations.
