I. Describe the piece of art

The Mona Lisa is one of the most beautiful paintings in the world. It was painted by

Leonardo Da Vinci, an Italian man who was gifted in writing, mathematics, geology,

engineering, music and painting. Among his works, Mona Lisa is the most famous. Da

Vinci painted Mona Lisa in such a way that the eyes are the center of attention. The pose of

the subject was a natural and relaxed pose.

II. Technical description

The technique Da Vinci used in the painting left behind no visible brush marks. It is truly

a masterpiece. You can almost feel her not only looking at you but can feel her smile. Seems

like she has so much in her mind. I find her smile, her facial bone structure to be the most

impressive. She seems young, yet old, at the same time. Everything about her is mystery.

III. Artist's Perspective

Because of Leonardo's ability to study the actual form of human, he was able to draw and

paint it more accurately than other artist. The painting had many Renaissance painting

techniques. He uses perspective by having a vanishing point. Leonardo Da Vinci used his

study of anatomy to make Mona Lisa more realistic. What keeps the painting in the light is

the fact that Da Vinci's life was full of controversies and mysteries.

IV. Importance of the Painting

The painting Mona Lisa is important in the art world, it has the attention of millions of

viewers of art and that is wonderful. Its secrets and other mysteries will keep the painting
2

famous for a long time. Humans love mystery, this is one of the reasons why not only Mona

Lisa but most of the paintings of Da Vinci are so famous. The mystery in the name, in the

missing eyebrows and the background made Mona Lisa so famous and made it a successful

painting.
