Client Proposal

The client has asked me to create a Multimedia with 12 things to do before 30 for Gap travel.

Client needs
Text-I have been told I can decide on the font size, colour and font. I will set the text to something
appropriate. I will also need to show the size, colour and font I am planning to use on the mood
board when I come around to making it.

Controls-I need to create controls for everything, from controlling the sound and videos to making
buttons to navigate through the product.

Sound-I will need to include sound in the multimedia. I will also need some music. The sound or
music can come from one of the videos.

Storyboards-I will need to create at least 4 storyboards. One Will be used for planning the splash
page, one for the sample page, one for the contents page and one for the sub contents page.

Animations-I need to include animations in the product. This could be a rolling animation created in
the program or it could be created in flash or photoshop.

Background-I will be choosing an appropriate background for the product and put ideas for it on the
mood board.

Videos-At least 2 videos have been requested to be in the multimedia product. They must have
controls for the sound and play/stop.

Navigation-I must show a flow/navigation chart of all my pages, where a button leads a person
viewing the product. This helps me understand where everything will go to once I start making the
product.

Buttons -I must create buttons with the software I am using or with photoshop. The buttons must all
work in the finished product. I will need to do lots of testing.

Design Logo-I will be designing a logo for Gap travel.

The Multimedia Product must work 100%.

Type of Production
The main type of production for the product will be putting it on a CD-ROM for people to get the disc
and view the multimedia at home. If Gap Travel had a website they could put the product on there
for people to view or even download a version of it.

Target audience
The Multimedia Product will be aimed towards males and females aged between 16 to 30 year olds.
It is aimed at people aged in-between 16-30 because the product will give examples for activities
that may be more suited for younger people.

Research
For research, I will need to look for competition such as other travel agencies like Gap Travel which
may come up with ideas like the 12 things to do before the age of 30. The product will have to be
able to compete with other agencies out there. I think a good way of competing with these agencies
would be to research what they are doing and take ideas to put into my own product- overall this
will increase my chances of making a good and successful multimedia product the client will
approve. I will have to take note of the more successful ones seeing what they do that makes them
stand out. Below are some examples of sites that I can take some ideas from:

Details of content
For the content in the product, it is important I keep it relevant for the age group 16-30. This means
to keep the information simple, each page displaying what its meant to without pouring lots of
information and graphics into one page. This would not help to sell the holidays to the viewer. The
Joshua Smith

aim of the product is to sell the holiday to the viewer and make them book the holiday, this can only
be achieved if I set a standard of content per page with simple information, graphics and navigation
(so they dont get lost). I will also have to make it look professional and formal but not to bore them
at the same time, I will have to go to the sites I linked above to get ideas on how I can keep my
readers engaged with the product. Designing a layout for each page means I get an idea for how
much content I can fit on each page without having more/less than what I should have per page.

Details of layout
I will need to think and plan the layout of each page carefully, making sure I dont have gaps where
something could be, text has enough room it fits the page, images are lined up with everything else
to make it look neat. I will plan these ideas and find my final layout on storyboards I will create. I will
need to create a layout that is neat so someone viewing the product can see the instructions where
everything is, with buttons which are clear and readable- keeping it simple.

This is an idea for my splash page layout.

Visual style
During the meeting, I was told I can make the product look however I want. This gives me the
freedom to plan whatever I think will suit the product. The visuals are important to any multimedia, I
will have to understand what colours attract more attention than others while still appealing to both
genders. I will also have to think about text, which fonts look better and what size would be suitable.
For the main info text, appropriate size would range from 12-14, Titles would be 16-20 in size. The
font will have to be readable and it would be best if I use a Sans Serif type of font, because fonts
with little flicks on the ends of letters like Nueva std font (which is a serif font) can be harder to
read on computer screens but much easier to read if it was printed. Below are some text font and
size ideas (next page):

Aesthetic qualities
For Gap Travel, I will need to produce a multimedia product for 16-30 year olds who want to travel
or has a few things they need to tick off their bucket list. I will need to make it look professional, I
can do that by following the colour scheme. The colour scheme is important for the product for
making it look more interesting. I will also be making the logo so I will try stick to the colour scheme
of that so the colours look odd and stand
out in a bad way.

Looking at the websites. They have a

good colour scheme that looks
professional and doesnt make the reader
not want to read it. I think I can learn
from monarch, they used 2 colours which
are completely opposite; yellow and purple. It works well with them, so I will try out unique colour
schemes until something looks like it will attract the eyes of the user and look professional at the
same time. Also, having a look at the sites; it doesnt distract you from anything, it all blends
together.

Format for publishing the finished product

Once I finished the product, I will need to put the file in to a projector file through director. Once I
have done that it will be saved to a CD-ROM- how the client will view the multimedia before it is
given to the public by Gap Travel. If Gap Travel had a website I could put it up on there for people to
access and view on their website or they had the option to download it.

Describe assets to be used

Joshua Smith

The assets will be the main parts of the product that will build it up. This will involve
graphics/images, videos, animations, sound and text. I will have to be careful on what I use because
of copyright laws. I will be putting the links to everything I take off the internet and put into my
sources document, the way I can use other peoples work from the internet is through the fair
dealings permit meaning I must show acknowledgement of where I found the assets.

Multimedia elements
In my multimedia product, graphics will be one of the main types of media I will be using. I need to
make sure they are all relevant to the text or the title 12 things to do before your 30. The graphics
will have to be there to make the product more attractive and professional but not to distract the
reader from knowing more about where they can visit. The client has asked for at least 2 videos in
the multimedia product. The videos will give a small example of what they can visit- videos being no
more than 10-15 seconds. The video may have sound, this should have controls to play/stop sound
and the video. Text will be there to give the most amount of information to the reader. This will have
to be controlled so I dont overdo it and bore the reader. Keeping the text simple, formal and in
short paragraphs should keep the reader interested. Animations are there to support the graphics
and text, I will use them just as something extra like graphics- made not to distract the reader from
the information but to bring it to life. The animations could be multiple graphics on a rotation or it
can be made in flash or photoshop. Sound is also another media I will have to control, making sure
there is an option to turn it off if it becomes irritating for the reader.

Logo ideas
My ideas for the logo is to have a simple graphic with small amount of text. The colours will try and
suit the theme of travelling while sticking to 1-2 colours. When I am making my product, I will try
and use the colour scheme I am using for the logo.

Mood board

This is my mood board for my multimedia product. I have thought about colours, backgrounds,
fonts/size, images and buttons then put all my ideas on to a single A4.
