nearest ASTM or API grade. Material shall also be in accordance with IPS codes and in case that material
is not complying with API or ASTM or its equivalent, the standard shall be approved by the Client.
4.3 Sour service conditions (H2S) are not included in this specification.
4.4 The Vendor shall respect the requirements of this specification and the relevant approved codes
and standards. The compliance to this specification does not relieve the Vendors responsibility relating to
the compatibility of the supplied equipment to meet the specified service conditions.
4.5 The Vendor shall have, at its usual practice, a Quality Assurance Program proving with the
support of documentary evidence that the used materials, design, manufacture, examinations and testing of
steel flanges and fittings are conformable to specifications the requirements and corresponding purchase
order. When required by purchase order or at the Client's request, the Vendor shall submit, for approval, its
Quality Assurance Program.
4.6 Vendor shall provide for the inspectors appointed by Client a free access to their premises in
order to perform any inspection deemed as necessary.
5- Materials
5.1 Unless otherwise stated, the quality of the steel of fittings shall conform to the requirements
of ASTM or API standards, or equivalent standard subjected to Client approval.
5.2 The specification of fittings material shall conform to the Material List for fittings.
5.3 The grades of the materials used for fittings shall conform to the norms and standards
mentioned in the construction codes, depending on the scope of application. The material of fittings shall
be in accordance with IPS-M-PI-150 and with the following provision:
5.2.1 The carbon equivalent and carbon content on product for welded and seamless shall be
limited as follows:
ASTM A234 Gr. WPB:
- Max. CE on product = 0.40% for fittings
- Max. C on product = 0.25%
ASTM A105:
- Max. CE on product = 0.43% for fittings
- Max. C on product = 0.26%
ASTM A860 Gr. WPHY52, 65 & 70.

6.6 The galvanized fittings have to be internally and externally coated, by hot immersion into a
zinc bath according to the ASTM A123 standard or equivalent.
6.7 The fittings made from welded pipes or with welds must have a heat treatment after
welding according to ASTM A234 or ASTM A860.
6.8 The stainless steel fittings of which the schedule is 5S, 10S, 40S, 80S shall be in accordance
with the stainless steel pipes ASME B36.19M. Similarly the 40 or 80 schedule without the S suffix shall
conform to the ASME B36.10M specification.
6.9 The stress relieving heat treatment parameters to be followed are those defined in the
applicable reference norm for the relevant grade, or in the project specification.
6.10 Repair by welding shall be prohibited on the parent metal of fittings.
7- Inspection and Test
7.1 Client shall designate a certified authority to perform inspection in the Vendor or
subcontractors workshop.
7.2 All the fittings shall be fully inspected and examined in compliance with codes, standards,
and welding inspection specification of the Project.
7.3 All the materials concerned by this specification must be traceable from the origin mill/
foundry or manufacturer.
7.4 For all the fittings, the certification documents shall be in accordance with the EN
10204.3.1 B norm.
7.5 For the carbon steel fittings supplied from stock, a certificate of compliance to EN 10204-
2.2 is acceptable, if certified by a recognized authority.
8.2 If the marking is difficult or not possible on the small fittings, a tag must be tied to these
fittings with this information. If the tag is separate from the fitting it must be possible to identify the fitting
related to the tag.
8.3 Color Coding
8.3.1 Fitting materials and packing systems for each Compressor Station shall have the
color coding according to the table below:
Fitting Material Color Code
A 105/ A234 GR.WPB,
None
A 860 Gr.WPHY 52
A 860 Gr.WPHY 65 Light Blue
A 860 Gr.WPHY 70 Orange
Stainless Steel None
8.3.2 The paint shall be resistant to salt water atmosphere, tropical or freezing climates or similar
attack. It shall not itself cause corrosion of the fittings on which it is applied.
8.3.3 Each screwed and socket-weld fitting shall be dabbed with a spot of paint, 1/2" to 1" in
diameter.
8.3.4 The back of each butt-welding fitting shall be painted over the entire length with a 1/2" to 1
1/2" wide stripe.
8.3.5 Vendor shall exercise good judgment in selecting appropriate width, depending on size of
fittings.
8.3.6 Color-coding is not applicable for galvanizing steel pipes
8.3.7 Paint shall not be applied to:
Inside of fittings
Threads
Weld bevels
Symbols or markings, which would obliterate identification
9- Protection
9.1 Austenitic stainless steel fittings shall be protected from exposure to salt water or salt spray
during shipment, cleaning, fabrication, testing and/or storage. If protective coatings are used they shall not
contain substances that may be detrimental to stainless steel.
