Photographer: David Bailey
Photograph Title (Queens commemorative Birthday portrait)
Photograph March 2014
What medium would the photograph be used in? (newspaper, magazines etc)
In terms of Medium where this photo would appear it would
most likely appear on the Buckingham Palace social feed on in any top range news papers to commemorate the queen's birthday as it is a national advent, So it would appear across a range of mediums instead of just a single one. Composition
In terms of composition, photographer David Bradley has
decided to have the queen to be in Mid portrait, he has probably done this as the main focus of the image is the queen so the only Image or person in shot should be the queen as it is specifically commemorating her as an individual. And giving a direction to who the photographer wants the consumer looking at e.g The Queen. Lighting
In terms of Lighting used in the Image, the photographer
(David Bailey) has used Split Lighting, this is where the HM Queen Elizabeth II would be positioned in Mid Shot with the camera at 90 degrees so fully focused on the face of the queen and the light would be put on the Queens far Right-hand side to which we could connote the photographer David wanted to symbolise the queen has a Private side so giving a shadow to her face suggesting a public queen and also a family queen. Focus
In terms of focus of the photo the the photographer has
focused more on the main and features of the Queen so the focus is on her, and not on individual section this makes plain awareness to the audience that the element we should be wholly focussing on is The Queen as the picture is meant to give us a direction to either what an article would tell us about but the photo must do it with the assistance of words so the focus gives us a depth to the queen is something significant for focus. Framing
In terms of Framing the Queen has been centred in Mid frame,
as previous the is to make the Importance of the Queen as She is Significant, the could also connote having the Queen more forward in shot therefore making her larger this is a larger event as it a rarity for people to reach a 90th Birthday so giving a under depth symbolism and making the queen bigger and more important in frame. Cropping
In this photo the photographer has cropped the photo, the
reason he would have done this as the bigger the image, the more the loss of main focal point, so he would have reduced the loss of focal point, by reducing the space around the queen main focal. And therefore main focusing the image point back to the queen which the image is meant to be focussing on. Fitness for purpose
In relation to fitness for purpose the the photograph/image
does correspond to the purpose as nothing else is focusing the attention of the audience to it only the queen is only image so as a consumer we know that the image must connect to so event or relation to the queen. Therefore the photographer has correctly used the features of photography to correctly demonstrate a purpose of HM Queen Elizabeth II Andreas Gursky
Who is the Photographer: Andreas Gursky
photographer, Photograph Title: F1 Boxenstopp I photograph title, year Photograph Taken: 2007 taken. What medium would the photograph be used in? (newspaper, magazines etc)
In terms of where this medium of photo would be used in
would be in magazine and social media as it promotes a brand and is a very striking image so would be on many social streams as or on billboards to promote the roles of F1 so you would see it most likely in a magazine, Internet etc. Composition
In terms of composition, photographer Andreas Gursky has
used a panoramic view giving more detail to the then just an individual racing, for the composition it reflects every element of a F1 race with the competitiveness of the teams, the Audience watching. So the driver has tried to compose a photo that shows reflects the full feeling of F1 having everyone involved in a still moments reflecting the moments of F1. Lighting
In requirement of lighting used within the image by Andreas
Gursky has used natural lighting, either during a night race with a 180 degrees camera spread of the image, showing both groups of prep team so the use of lighting is used to create a natural environment, therefore the image is naturally taken under normal (neutral lighting). Each kind of light could suggest a foreboding of misfortune for the team with the light being dark. Focus
In terms of focus of the photo the the photographer has
focused more on features of the whole image, but in terms of focus due to contrast of colour in the foreground it gives the focus to the image more point so the consumer would look at these colours as the the only stand out colours in a very dark B/F ground, so we would focus more on these colours as it stands out, and shows a variety of colors for the viewer to focus on. Framing
For Framing it has been a spread showing more the image, he
has focused the whole image at 90 degree angle making the image give more depth the framing is meant to show all of the components and having the frame filled with main focal points its meant to show us these components. The framing is positioned so that it reference all the same stages and that gives a snapshot of the feeling instead of after or before shot of the race but giving a realistic shot the shows a rarity upclose image into racing. Cropping
This photo has not be cropped as the photographer wants the
image to full of multiple events going on in a single so there is a wider focus so he hasnt cropped the image, this therefore gives more of an expression as the photo is giving a larger detail as it could be reflecting to separate events happening as split image but put together. So the cropping hasn't been used as the photograph wants to give the audience the the connotation of a bigger image and components that go into F1. Fitness for purpose
In terms for fitness for purpose it completes it specified
title as it reflects all the moments we would associate and corresponds to reflecting the elements of racing as it main focus is the foreground showing the element of racing and giving the audience a snapshot of a moment of racing and fitting it intended purpose. Henrik Knudsen Who is the photographer, photograph title, year taken.
Photographer: Henrik Knudsen
Photograph Title: Central Park Photograph Taken: 2015 What medium would the photograph be used in? (newspaper, magazines etc)
In terms of medium you would find this photograph in would
be on Magazines to advertise Holidays on Social Media gallery as this would be personalisation to show personal identity of the medium of the certain magazine or individual, so you would usually find it in a cross of medium. Composition
In terms of composition, the photographer has decided to
have the main protagonists to be in Mid portrait, he has probably done this as the main focus of the image is the these two main protagonists so the only Image or person(s) in shot should be the two main protagonists as it is specifically trying to give the connotations of people being at park and them in a natural environment. Lighting
In terms of Lighting used in the Image, the photographer
(Henrik Knudsen) has used Natural Lighting, this is where the use of Natural sourced light (Sun) would give the image no artificial light and all light provided within the image comes from the natural environment, So the lighting used would create a more lifelike feel creating an average situation in relation to place and whereabouts of the location. Focus
In terms of focus the photographer has used Rule of Thirds
having the two protagonists laying across the intersections of the (ROT), we also focus more on the two protagonists as they are closure so we see more of facial expression as the camera has a more shorter focus as it not having to look at multiple images (Source, Bandstand, Ice-cream Stand etc. So therefore we can connote more from the image from the lower symbols in the photograph. Framing
In terms of Framing the main protagonists has been centred
in Mid frame, as previous the is to make the Importance of the them more significant, the could also connote having the protagonists more forward in shot therefore making her them reflect a mood of the park having a bigger feel and more to discover but having the frame closed but showing a reflection in the water giving the frame a sneak-peek to what could be in the rest of the image. Cropping
In terms of cropping the photographer has not cropped the
top/bottom of the image but has reduced the sides of the image, this could be as he wants the focus more on the people. By cropping the image he is giving leading lines to follow and using a rule of thirds so that we focus the predominantly on the main shot so by cropping image he is lowering the amount of image to process so giving less of an image, but an more pleasing to the viewer that still relates to the purpose. Fitness for purpose
In relation to fitness for purpose it hard to give a
definitive answer as the Title is Central Park but we dont see enough of the park to reflect the title all we see is skyscrapers reflected in the pool of water, but also the contrast of colours and this dose link to an outside environment so we can conclude that it a very indepth way it does it parts fit it purpose but only when looked at in a certain depth.
