1. Objective(s): Students will compare and sort pictures of the past, present, and future.

Evidence outcomes: a. Order sequence information using words. Words to include but not limited to
past, present, future, days, weeks, months, years, first, net, last, before, and after (DOK 1)
b. Explore differences and similarities in the lives of children and families of long ago and today (DOK
1-2)

3. Learning Target(s): I can sort pictures of the past, present, and future and can explain why its from
the past, present, or future.

Poster students make

Picture cards of past, present, and future objects
Title headers: Past, present, future

Why do things change over time?

7. Introduction/Anticipatory Set:
Review our vocabulary words with their motions:
Past: something that has already happened
Present: right now
Future: something that will happen later

8. ****Step-by-Step Lesson Process:****


1. Anticipatory Set (3 min)
2. Hand out past, present, and future cards. (1 min)
- Differentiate: give the students that are more advanced more than one picture card to sort.

- Groupings are already made.
3. Have students find their groups. (3-5 min)
- Look at the word on the bottom of your card. Find your partner that also has a card with that word.
- There will be 2-3 kids per group.
4. Have students place their cards in sequential order of past, present, and future in their groups. (10
min)
- Students will stick their cards in order on their piece of paper.
- Students will get it checked by a teacher.
- Students will glue their cards on to their paper.
8. Students will share their posters with the class. (10 min)
- How did you guys decide which card was from the past, present, and future?
