Greek Mythology and Literature Project

Option 1: God/Goddess PowerPoint or Google Slides Presentation

Requirements: Create your own god/goddess. First, pick a name for your god/goddess and then choose what
they will be the ruler of (examples: love, water, underworld, strength, basketball, beauty, snapchat, war, peace).
You may have your god/goddess be the ruler of something that the Greeks had a god for, or they can be the
ruler of something completely different. However, your god/goddess cannot have the same name as one of the
Greek gods or goddesses. Your presentation must include at least 7 slides and it needs to have at least 7
pictures. This is how your presentation should be set up:

Title Slide this should include the name of your god, what they are the ruler or the god of, and a
picture of the god.
Background/Origins - this part should have 1-3 slides. You need to give background information on
your god. You can explain who their parents were, how/where they were raised, how they became a
god, or tell any story of how they became famous. This part needs to have at least 100 words and at
least 1 picture.
Symbols this part should have 1 or 2 slides. Every Greek god had at least one symbol to represent
them (Zeus was symbolized by the oak and by the thunderbolt). Choose two symbols for your
god/goddess and include 2 pictures and put a label for each picture.
Powers this should be on 1 slide. List 3 specific powers that your god/goddess possesses.
Pictures of Powers this part needs to have 3 different slides. Find pictures that relate to each of the
three powers that your god/goddess has.

Option 2: Create Your Own Fable Writing Assignment (Must be Typed)

Requirements: We learned about some of Aesops Fables and now you will create your own fable.
Remember, a fable is a story that teaches a moral or a lesson. Aesop used animals to tell his stories and so will
you. Your story will include at least 2 characters and at least 1 will be an animal. Your story needs to have a
title, be at least 250 words, and it should end with you stating the moral/lesson of the story. Your fable can
teach the same lesson as one of Aesops stories, or you can choose your own moral to write about.

Title
Include at least 2 characters, 1 needs to be an animal
Minimum of 250 words
Double Spaced, Times New Roman, 12 font
The moral of the story needs to be explained at the end

Examples of Morals/Lessons:

Dont be a bully, dont procrastinate, dont judge a book by its cover, 2 wrongs dont make a right, dont try to
do too much at once, treat others the way youd like to be treated, be patient, dont kick people while theyre
down, the early bird gets the worm, the universe helps those who help themselves, dont catfish people online,
honesty is the best policy, dont make jokes if you cant take a joke, fair-weather friends are no good.
