National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual October 25
campaign to increase awareness of the disease.

PTO Election Meeting October 26


PTO will be meeting on Thursday, October 19th from 5:00 p.m. to
5:45 p.m. During this meeting, we will be hosting the elections for 8D, 8E, & 8F Parent Breakfast
President, Vice President, Treasurer & Secretary. The PTO Board will
be elected by vote. Committees will also be created for those who
do not wish to be on the PTO Board, but who wish to still have an
October Announcement
active role in the PTO.
Anti-Bullying Month will be taking
Scholastic Book Fair place on October 2nd to October
30th. Celebrate Anti-Bullying
The scholastic book fair is here from Month! Not just for a month but
Monday, October 23rd - Friday, for life!
October 27th. Our book fair is located
in the library and it is open to everyone Week of October 16th - Stand up
from 7:30am to 4:00pm. Book fairs are a for other. STAND UP for
perfect opportunity to stock up on someone being bullied. Week of
October 23rd - Week of inclusion.

Character Education Core Values
We are proud to announce this year we are initiating a
comprehensive character education program. This years Core
Values will be the same with P.R.I.D.E. During this month we will
explore and learn Purpose and Patience in our classrooms and

Columbus Day 10/9
Columbus Day is a U.S. holiday that
commemorates the landing of
Christopher Columbus in the Book Fair 10/23-10/27
Americas on October 12, 1492. It
was unofficially celebrated in a
number of cities and states as early Cancer Awareness
as the 18th century, but did not become a federal holiday until Month October
1937. For many, the holiday is a way of both honoring Columbus
achievements and celebrating Italian-American heritage. But
throughout its history, Columbus Day and the man who inspired it Movies on Fridays
have generated controversy, and many alternatives to the holiday
have proposed since the 1970s.

CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS 10/19
Christopher Columbus was an Italian-born explorer who set sail in
August 1492, bound for Asia with backing from the Spanish
monarchs King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.Columbus intended
to chart a western sea route to China, India and the fabled gold
and spice islands of Asia. Instead, he landed in the Bahamas,
becoming the first European to explore the Americas since the
Vikings established colonies in Greenland and Newfoundland during
the 10th century.
