ADVANCED DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING
(Common to DECS and ECE)

1 (a) Find for the given sequence using DIT - FFT algorithm.
(b) What is the relation between impulse response of a LTI - DTS and its frequency
response? Prove the relationship using conventional summation.

2 (a) Explain in detail the realization of parallel all pass IIR transfer function.
(b) Realize the following system with minimum number of multipliers:

3 (a) Bring out the comparison of the FIR and IIR filters with respect to phase, stability and
number of computations.
(b) Illustrate the complementary properties of first order low pass and high pass transfer
functions in all pass and power complementary types of CTFs.

4 (a) Discuss briefly about:


(i) Fast DFT algorithms.
(ii) Computation of sliding DFT.
(b) Explain the importance of chirp - Z transform algorithm in detail.

5 (a) Explain clearly about quantization in ADC and the effect of it on data length. Relate
length to noise power spectral density.
(b) Discuss finite word length effects with respect to IIR filter structures.

6 (a) Discuss the method of power spectrum estimation using Blackman - Tukey method.
(b) Bring out the relationship between the parameters of AR, MA and ARMA models of
power spectrum estimation and autocorrelation matrix of input data.

7 (a) Explain the necessity of multirate signal processing and hence define decimation and
interpolation.
(b) What is the need for multirate sampling in real time applications and discuss the
problems that arise due to down sampling of the data and how to overcome them?
Explain in detail with necessary mathematical expressions.

8 (a) Explain in detail about the dual tone multi frequency signal detection.
(b) Define spectrum and hence discuss the importance of spectral analysis.
