Course Component 3-unit lecture, 0-unit laboratory; 3 hours lecture, 0 hours lab

Course Description A survey of the physical sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Science (Geology, Hydrology, Meteorology, and Astronomy)
Course Goal The course aims to develop the students to obtain functional knowledge in the basic physical sciences that they can use in their practical daily life.

At the end of the semester, the students are expected to:

1. Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking on the basic principles of Physical Science.

2. Develop concrete understanding on matter and its properties, classification and various matter transformations.

3. Develop understanding on the basic principles of the earth and its physical composition, structure and processes.

4. Synthesize Geology, Hydrology, Meteorology and Astronomy.

5. Appreciate the importance of physical sciences to human beings.

6. Have functional understanding of calamities brought by indiscriminate utilization of natural resources.
