What Standards (national or
state) relate to this lesson? SC.1.P.13.1: Demonstrate that the way to change the motion of an object is by applying a push or a pull.
(You should include ALL applicable
standards. Rarely do teachers use SC.1.E.5.2: Explore the Law of Gravity by demonstrating that Earth's gravity pulls any object on or near

its okay, and dont move on to the next person until I say its okay. After giving
instructions, hand out the supplies. Then tell the first student to get up, and begin
the experiment. After everything is handed out, the first student will be
instructed to stand at the head of the table with their tube and drop the first
item.
Students/Te Students will then drop the item,. The teacher will then pause everyone and ask
acher them to discuss at their table what they saw happen and record it on their paper.
Then the next person will pick up the next item. This will continue until all the
items are through. Then, we will ask them to tilt the tube while leaving it in the
bowl and record what happens. Once all the items have been put through the
tube either straight on or at an angle, they will turn the papers with their names
on it in to the teacher.
What will you do if a student struggles with the content?
If a student struggles with this concept, the teacher will be walking around to offer help. They could also
try asking their classmates if they need help.
If a student masters the content quickly, they will be given an item or two more and asked to try those
items. They will also be asked to record what they notice is happening on their worksheet, and why they
think that is.
Meeting your students needs as If applicable, how does this lesson connect to the interests and cultural backgrounds of your
people and as learners students?
My students enjoy science and nonfiction very much, and enjoy hands-on activities. They often seem
super excited for these experiments, and I know the same will be true for this activity.

How will you differentiate instruction for students who need additional challenge during this
lesson (enrichment)?
They will be asked to write in complete sentences, and asked what they thought would happen if two
objects were dropped at the same time. Would they both fall at the same rate? Would the angle of the
ramp affect this?
How will you differentiate instruction for students who need additional language support?
Those who need additional language support will receive help from the teacher and be grouped
with students who have helped him communicate in the past.
Accommodations (If needed) J.H., J.L., A., A.-Extra check ins, reminders of norms
