Learning Intentions
For students to develop an understanding of
mental health, mental disorders and
model the mental health continuum model.
The students will develop an understanding
of Schizophrenia, the symptoms (focusing
on the positive symptoms) as well as the
onset and treatment approaches.
The students will also learn the two-hit
hypothesis and how this is used to explain
the development of schizophrenia.

Lesson One:
Check homework worksheet
Start of lesson with asking the students to write
down how they are feeling. EG: stressed,
happy etc on a piece of scrap paper.
Once students have done this, collect them and
as a class discuss if they should go in
mentally healthy pile or not mentally healthy
pile.
Students need to explain why each word
belongs in the pile it has been put into.
