IMPORTANT: This upgrade is NOT for models with the
Rockwell HCF 56K modem or the
Diamond SupraExpress 56K modem.

DESCRIPTION: Creates a diskette that is used with the Presario notebook,
desktop, minitower, and microtower models mentioned above to upgrade or
install the driver for the integrated modem. The driver version is 1.6.15.1.
This is the same modem driver that is in SoftPaqs SP9451 and SP9017.
Enhancements/Fixes:
- Upgrade to V.90 if V.90 functionality is not already installed
- Improved V.90 performance if V.90 functionality is already installed
- Improved V.90 connections to US Robotics Total Control Modem Banks
- Allows new installation of Modem Drivers as well as an Upgrade
- Can also be used with a Compaq Presario 56K Modem that a customer purchases
separately for their computer, including a non-Compaq computer (this was not
possible with the upgrade utility provided in previous SoftPaqs SP9451 and
SP9017.)
NOTE: This upgrade may cause garbled voice messages on Presario 4800 Series
models using the Compaq Phone Center Software. If you use the answering machine
function, you may want to hold off on performing the upgrade until this issue is
resolved.
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting
executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.
The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.
You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for
the files, or default to the download directory.
3. After the files have been created, you may delete the
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.
4. To install, run SETUP.EXE.
