Comarch M2M & IoT Ecosystem

The world of digital and Machine to Machine (M2M) services has changed. It has developed from
vertical solutions focused on a single area to multiple, bundled and collaborative applications acting
across many verticals, enterprises and users in the Internet of Things (IoT).

The real value of communication service providers (CSP) IoT offers lies in bundling connectivity
(data, devices, and connectivity-related services) with vertical enablers, quality of service, service
level agreements, telecommunication services and cloud technology (such as hosting or backup). For
operators who create their own offers, there is additional value in the ability to present a superior
customer experience and to better address the requirements of digital services.

A huge part of the IoT industry is the hardware and software required to run projects in various
industry verticals to which CSPs could potentially resell. This includes elements necessary to provide
connectivity (units with a SIM card, antennas, batteries and simple logic), end devices (equipment for
using the connectivity, e.g. payment terminals, wireless monitoring cameras, etc.), and applications
(e.g. monitoring applications to manage the stock of meters in oil tanks). IoT demands more
integration between these parts and more advanced communication and processes.

CSPs can find additional opportunities beyond providing connectivity, by offering additional services
full, refined, end to end digital lifestyle & IoT offerings, tailored to what customers really want.

Comarch can meet customers needs with full, own ecosystem supported by vast experience and
knowledge gained in various verticals.
Figure 1 Comarch M2M & IoT Ecosystem

CSPs started selling services as Smart Connectivity Providers, then extended the scope by adding
services to become Service Aggregators before becoming Integrated Service Providers. The digital
services and IoT market requires such changes and sees them as essential. However, one important
issue should be noted going into verticals is more risky, as there are more specialized players there,
and this is why more knowledge is required for specific areas.

Comarch, as a multi-service provider, can present a much more flexible, powerful and complete
portfolio to cover all new demands of the digital services and IoT market, than many of its
competitors. With a comprehensive solution, multiple references, and established partnerships,
Comarch is the perfect partner for projects in this space.

Billing of Applications IoT Needs More than Traditional Billing

IoT is a world in which a variety of different players can cooperate and create a complex service sold
as one bundled product to the end customer. These players include communications service
providers (CSPs), providers of IoT services, application providers, device providers, third-parties
(partners), customers / resellers and end users. Their cooperation can be based on various relations
and encompasses a multitude of settlement scenarios, such as selling through partners, direct selling
to the end users / customers, billing on behalf, reselling or branding, and many more. This kind of
approach calls for different billing processes, different exchange of information and different focus
on the invoicing process, than those that CSPs have been used to so far.

In order to support IoT settlements the strongest accent should be put on IoT usage based billing to
enable innovative pricing models such as value based (pay per use), criteria based (flat rate) or
consumer device based. Comarch Billing of Applications answers these needs.

Digital Services Platform - Find the Right Partners for Cooperation Quickly and Automatically

As mentioned above, partnerships are the key to success in the digital world of IoT partnerships.
However, the whole process, from attracting a business partner, through proper bundling of the
services, to building an optimal cooperation model, can take a very long time.

The Digital Services Platform module is a partner collaboration and service management platform
that helps CSPs to manage the quality of services such as IoT / M2M, cloud, mobile payments, and
core telecom products related to new technologies. It handles the collaboration process between the
partners responsible for delivering various services, service components and capabilities, and
streamlines the process of service integration by efficiently distributing tasks between appropriate
partners and departments. It can play an active role in various industries such as smart city,
automotive, healthcare, electricity, and many others.

Figure 6 Comarch Digital Services Platform

Digital Services Platform supports a convenient online portal to attract partners with collaboration
offers, help them to build new services composed of multiple blocks, and expose these services
through the market place to end customers. It includes not only service inventory but also
implementation prescriptions for external systems where those services are billed, provisioned, sold,
etc.

The system helps CSPs in the transition from being traditional telecom operators to digital service
providers, and addresses all the needs of a digital marketplace with its multitude of services, players
and roles. The tool is flexible enough to support even fast-growing service portfolios. Using the
Digital Services Platform functionality, CSPs can easily manage digital services that require
collaboration within an ecosystem of partners and are composed of elements from multiple clouds.
The system also enables the quality of these services to be monitored and managed.

SLA Management Offer the Highest End to End QoS for Your Customers
What exactly does the highest quality of service (QoS) mean in todays world? The answer contains
several elements: offering your customers the best user experience wherever they are, providing the
highest access speed, connectivity efficiency, making support and help available at any time, remote
service monitoring, improved performance, a multitude of reporting functions, automated alerts and
notifications, detections of misuses and many, many more.

Service providers deliver the highest QoS to their customers and partners today through global,
multi-level SLAs (service quality agreements).

The SLA Management functionality enables service providers to offer not only various tariff plans for
different SLA levels, but also to define and monitor KPIs, handle trouble tickets efficiently, manage
different SLA levels, flexibly report flexibly on any kind of information about any SLAs, including those
related to non-connectivity elements (thanks to device APIs). [WU2] Comentrio: Okay?

M2M Actionable Analytics Analyze Data in Real Time and Reap the Benefits [WM3] Comentrio: ok

Most executives say a lot of critical information needed for decision making is delivered to the
telecom operators too late. Traditional solutions based on business intelligence / data warehouse
platforms enable you to perform post-mortem, offline data mining and analysis, and provide
actionable results no sooner than several days or even weeks after the event took place. This is no
longer fast enough in the world where everything needs to happen in real time.

Operational excellence requires immediate action. Modern IT solutions should therefore focus on
delivering results and building real business value in a much shorter timeframe e.g. it is necessary
that a data analytics platform ingests source data automatically in streaming mode, processes it, and
makes intelligent decisions in real time. It should also trigger actions automatically, based on
analytical insights.

The M2M Actionable Analytics module focuses on delivering measurable business value, using
intelligent big data processing and real-time actionable analytics. It provides thorough information
about the way in which customers are using your M2M products. Additionally, it handles some issues
related to quality of service (QoS) within M2M operations, by helping discover which device (or type
of device) generates issues, revealing data patterns and trends, and providing reports and analyses of
anomalies. Device / IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) or customer profile dashboards
enable deep data drill down. You can also use the supporting functions such as alarms and
notifications internally, to improve your business and operational results and enhance customer
experience.
Furthermore, the tool lets you offer analytics as a service externally, to your M2M customers or even
to end users (via online access to the user dashboard). In this way the solution can generate value
added capabilities for your business partners and end customers, which entail potential for new
revenue opportunities.

The system helps you monetize data generated within your own infrastructure, in particular those
processed within the Comarch M2M Platform, such as usage, performance and mobility data etc.

Comarch IoT Platform the Best Gateway to the Range of IoT Services Across
Multiple Verticals

Comarch IoT Platform is a flexible, open and scalable set of services that can integrate into existing
systems, and complement their functionality in the areas of device inventory and management,
reporting, KPI monitoring, remote device upgrades and access through a set of well-defined APIs.

Flexibility and leveraging open interfaces are both crucial for IoT solutions at this phase of market
growth, especially as there is no single set of standards for such solutions. Comarch IoT Platform
supports multiple standards at all levels, from device connectivity (local area technologies such as
WiFi, BLE, RFID, and wide area technologies such as LoRa), through application level protocols
(AMQP, MQTT, CoAP), to APIs enabling the integration of the platform with vertical-specific
applications.

Figure 8 Comarch IoT Platform

Aside from providing the software part of the solution, Comarch is also fully proficient in designing
and manufacturing all the IoT-related hardware. With several IoT nodes already designed and
delivered to the market (e.g. Comarch Beacon, Comarch IoT Gateway and corresponding smartphone
agent components), Comarch offers operators all the means and capabilities to deliver their new
physical things (from simple nodes, through complex sensors, to multimode intelligent IoT
gateways) as part of the solution.

Comarch IoT Platform also delivers ready to use applications on top of the platform fast track
applications that operators may start offering very quickly in their basic form, or expand if needed
(with new types of nodes, new types of device interaction rules, etc.). These applications include
Intelligent Objects (retail, hospitality) for retail and office efficiency, which allows management of a
fleet of beacons in a given area so that they can be tied to some highly dynamic content. Another is
Guidance (retail, hospitality) a beacon-based indoor approximate location solution that provides
the user with simple and effective means to locate beacons in a new indoor environment (e.g. a
shopping mall, university or airport) and navigate to the points of interest. Smart Home turns the
cloud of connected objects located in a home into a coherent, meaningful and efficient home
automation system with end nodes such as sensors, connected switches, power supplies and light
bulbs. And finally Assets Tracker (logistics) allows companies to manage their assets effectively in the
field (such assets may include branded equipment at points of sale, containers, etc.).

Comarch IoT Platform comes with a set of APIs and a rule engine that allows multiple types of
applications to be built for different verticals in both generic (the same, customizable application for
multiple customers) and bespoke models (a specific application built to fit the particular needs of a
single customer).

Comarch Healthcare Solutions the City of Health

People require different kinds of specialized medical care at various stages of life. The City of Health,
a smart medical city, performs its role through an ICT system, which provides a range of e-health
services addressed to the citys inhabitants of all ages. Healthcare solutions delivered by Comarch
can support this idea by enabling patient-doctor and doctor-doctor consultations, including video
conferencing, child health status control and school screenings, electronic Patient Health Record
(PHR all medical documentation available in one place), coordination of the execution of necessary
vaccinations and check-ups, cardiac rehabilitation and monitoring of post-intervention patients, with
the possibility of issuing intelligent electronic prescriptions, remote motor rehabilitation, remote care
for pregnant women, CTG (Cardiotocography), remote comprehensive and integrated senior citizen
care, and remote monitoring of people suffering from lifestyle diseases.

Comarch also offers a Telecare Center increasing the sense of safety, especially for the elderly, as
well as a Center for Diagnostic Imaging, aggregating images from various hospitals for analysis.
Figure 9 Comarch Healthcare Ecosystem

On top of that, as the main vertical solution, Comarch e-Care Platform consists of a Home Medical
Assistant (HMA) which is a medical device for patients at home integrated with numerous
complimentary medical sensors (e.g. sphygmomanometer, peak flow meter, spirometer, pulse
oximeter, scales, thermometer and glucometer). It also includes a Personal Medical Assistant (PMA)
a portable mobile device for ECG (Electrocardiography) records, dedicated to patients outside the
hospital environment, and e-Care Monitoring web-based software, together with mobile
applications for doctors. The basic task of the platform is to collect and analyze data in the form of
medical parameters from HMA and PMA devices and present it in the e-Care Monitoring Center,
integrated with other systems (such as Electronic Health Record).

The main advantage of remote patient monitoring is the possibility to have vital parameters
continuously monitored and analyzed by qualified health professionals, which increases the
probability of detecting medical anomalies, diseases or life-threatening situations. Moreover, it also
contributes to the improvement of the quality of life for patients suffering from chronic diseases (due
to home use of the medical measurements), as well as providing the possibility of timely and life-
saving actions via direct video communication with a patient.
