NOVENA TO

Our Lady of Fatima

Opening Prayer for Everyday

Heart of Mary, of the Mother of God, and of our Mother; heart most amiable, delight of the ever
adorable Trinity, and worthy of all the veneration and tenderness of angels and of men; heart most like
the Heart of Jesus, Whose most perfect image You are; heart full of goodness, ever compassionate
towards our miseries, vouchsafe to thaw our icy hearts, and change them to the likeness of Heart of
Jesus. Infuse into them the love of Your virtues, inflame them with the blessed fire with which You do
ever burn.

In You let the holy Church find safe shelter; May You be its tower of strength, impregnable
against the assaults of its enemies. May You be the road leading to Jesus; May You be the channel
whereby we receive all graces needful for our salvation. May You be our help in need, our comfort in
trouble, our strength in temptation, our refuge in persecution, our aid in danger; but especially in the
last struggle of our life, at the moment of our death, when all hell shall be unchained against us to
snatch away our souls, in that dread moment, that hour so terrible, on which depends our eternityah!
Then, most tender Virgin, do make us feel how great is the sweetness of Your motherly Heart, how great
Your power with the Heart of Jesus, opening to us, in the very fount of mercy itself, a safe refuge, that so
one day we, too, may join with You in Paradise in praising the Heart of Jesus forever and ever. Amen.

May the Divine Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary be known, praised, blessed,
loved and glorified always and in all places. Amen.

FIRST DAY MEDITATION

The way to Jesus

My Immaculate Heart will be the Way that leads to Jesus.

Our Lady of Fatima

Saint Grignion de Monfort, one of the most devoted Apostles of the Blessed Virgin Mary, did not
hesitate to say: God wishes that Mary be at present more known, more loved, more honored, than she
has ever been. If Our Lord is not known today as He ought to be, it is because Mary is still unknown. It is
Mary who brought the Savior into the world the first time; a second time, in a modern age, she will bring
Jesus again to the world and the world to Jesus. In her motherly love and care she came to us, her
children, in Fatima, saying: I am the Lady of the Rosary. I have come to warn the people to amend their
lives and ask pardon for their sins. With a look of great sadness and in a pleading voice she continued:
Men must no longer offend Our Divine Lord, Who is already offended too much? It is Marys great
mission given to her on Calvarys hill, told by her dying Jesus: Woman, behold your Son From that
very hour on she has made it her lifes work to lead souls to Jesus; of course, she had practiced it already
before; we can say: Through Mary, St. Joseph came to Jesus and Zacharias, Elizabeth and the shepherds
of Bethlehem; through Mary the three kings came to Jesus, the people of Nazareth, the pious women
beneath the cross; and so on in the history of the Church. Wherever there are help-seeking, grace-
seeking souls, whenever they came to Jesus they came to Him through Mary. The whole Catholic Church
prays still today: And after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus, O clement,
O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. We all want to be saved by Mary. Then we must also listen to her, how
she will save us. Her way and her answer is the same as at Cana when she said: Whatever Jesus will say
to you, do it. Therefore, back to the gospel, which is Christs word and Christs way to save us, Jacinta,
one of the three little seers of Fatima said: If man only knew what eternity is, how they would amend
their lives. The sins of the world are too great Men must do penance. If they amend their lives, Our Lord
will still pardon the world; but if they do not, the chastisement will come.

Mary is Gods Mother, and therefore so powerful. Mary is also our Mother and therefore so
solicitous for our Salvation. She came and gave us the message of Fatima, a message of Hope and
Salvation. In Fatima speaks a mothers love, pleads a mothers heart for her children who are in danger.
We can be saved, we will be saved, if we listen, if we learn, if we practice the message of Fatima.
Remember that Our Lord promised St. Brigid: Ask Me favors through the Heart of My Mother and you
shall obtain what you desire. It is through Mary that we come to Jesus, it is through Mary that we get
all things from Jesus.

The message of Fatima is the revelation of the means of returning the world to Jesus, through
Mary.

The object of Fatima is to return the world to Jesus through Mary.

The means of Fatima are Penance, Rosary, Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Jacinta uttered the following words: Tell everybody that God gives graces, through the
Immaculate Heart of Mary. Tell them to ask these graces from her, and that the Heart of Jesus wishes to
be venerated together with the Immaculate Heart of His dear Mother.

PRAYERS TO BE RECITED EVERYDAY AFTER EACH MEDITATION

Act of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

O Heart of Mary, I honor You as the Heart most pleasing to Our Lord and most intimately united to Him.
I love You as the Heart of the best of mothers and I rejoice in Your glorious prerogatives. Prostrate
before you, O Heart of Mary, I make You this humble act of reparation for all the outrages You have
received from me and all mankind. I humbly confess that I have been guilty of the greatest ingratitude
towards You; but seeing that through You, the divine mercy has so often had regard unto me, I venture
even yet to hope that You will not abandon me. In this sweet confidence I am animated by a most
earnest desire to be more faithful and more devoted to You. I pray You to accept all the good that
henceforth I am resolved to do, to present it to Your dear Son Jesus, so that, through You, my most
loving Savior may pour down His benedictions more and more on me and all who are dear unto me.
Amen.

Another Act of Reparation especially for the First Saturdays

Most Holy Virgin and our beloved Mother, we listen with grief to the complaints of Your
Immaculate Heart surrounded with the thorns which ungrateful men place therein at every moment by
their blasphemies and ingratitude. Moved by the ardent desire of loving You as our Mother and of
promoting a true devotion to Your Immaculate Heart, we prostrate ourselves at your feet to prove the
sorrow we feel for the grievances that men cause to You, to atone, by means of our prayers and
sacrifices, for the offenses with which men return Your tender love.

Obtain for them and for us the pardon of so many sins. A word from You will obtain grace and
amendment for us all. Hasten, O Lady, the conversion of sinners, that they may love Jesus and cease to
offend the Lord, already so much offended, and will not fall into hell. Turn Your eyes of mercy towards
us, that henceforth we may love God with all heart while one earth and enjoy Him forever in heaven.
Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

O Mary, powerful Virgin and Mother of Mercy, Queen of Heaven and refuge of sinners, we
consecrate ourselves into Your Immaculate Heart.

We consecrate to You our whole being and all our life, all that we have, all that we love, all that
we are. To You we give our bodies, our hearts, our souls. To You we dedicate our homes, our families,
and our country. We desire that everything in us, and everything about us, should share in the gifts of
Your maternal blessings and the fruits thereof. And that this consecration may be truly efficacious and
lasting we renew at Your feet today, O Mary, the promises of our Baptism, and our First Communion.
We bind ourselves to profess courageously and at all times the truths of our Holy Catholic Faith, and to
live as Catholics in full submission to all the instructions of the Pope and the Bishops in communion with
him. We pledge ourselves to keep the Commandments of God and of the Church, especially to keep holy
the Sunday. We undertake to embrace in our daily lives, as far as possible, the consoling practices of the
Christian religion and, above all, Holy Communion. We promise You, O glorious Mother of God and
tender Mother of men, to occupy ourselves with our whole hearts in devotion to Your blessed service,
especially in praying the Holy Rosary, in order to hasten and confirm, through the reign of Your
Immaculate Heart, the Kingdom of Your adorable Son, in our souls and the souls of all who dwell in our
beloved country, and throughout the world, on earth as in Heaven. Amen.

the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

SECOND DAY
MEDITATION

Consecration to Mary

I ask for the consecration of the whole world to my Immaculate Heart.

Mary at Fatima

We are all dedicated to our Blessed Mother. Our first prayer on mothers lap has invoked her
name; our youth, our life has in a special way been consecrated to her maternal protection.

What does it mean now to consecrate ones self to the Blessed Virgin Mary? To consecrate
ones self away, to surrender, to sacrifice ones self for something or for somebody; or we can say the
act of consecration to Mary is the gift of oneself to Mary. We know of things consecrated to God like
chalices, churches. Such objects cannot be used anymore for any profane purpose, they are now
reserved for gods holy service. We speak of persons consecrated to God as priests, religious. They have
consecrated their life to God, they have left the world, have entered the convent, and are now ready
and set apart for Gods holy service only. Sanctificatus Domino, holy to the Lord, as it was said of the
priests of the Old Testament.

You know, of course, the consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary cannot have this
ultimate aim and end. The last end of man, of his life and of his service, is always God. But there is in the
Immaculate Heart of Mary a symbol and a sensible image of her great love for Jesus Christ and for all
Her children. And, therefore, our act of consecration is nothing else than an offering and a binding of
ourselves to Jesus Christ, inspired by Marys great love for Him. We are consecrating ourselves to a
Heart is nearest and dearest to Jesus. It is the heart through which we received Jesus, and it is through
the same Heart that we will go to Jesus. It is the same Heart from which all graces flow, because it is the
Heart of the Mediatrix of all Graces.

One look at present day movies, comics, magazines, books and newspapers revels the necessity
of the Immaculate Heart. More than at any other time, we need, today, the Immaculate Heart to purify
the world and we need souls dedicating themselves to this noble heart, making the act of general
consecration personal by giving themselves to Mary. In this Heart of Mary they will find then a constant
reminder to seek first the kingdom of God or to seek first the things that are above as well as a safe
guide in their everyday life. We see, therefore, the act of consecration is not only a single prayer said
once before the altar or the picture of Mary. Oh no, it is much more and means much more. It is in fact a
real program of Christian conduct in life, and a solemn promise to realize this program under the special
protection of Mary as far as human frailty permits.

It is the resolution to be in a world, where all flesh has corrupted its way, a salt that protects
from getting corruption; to be a light that shines, and that shows a better way. It is a resolution to
esteem highly the virtue of purity and all the obligations the holy Gospel wants from us; it is our desire
to please her, to honor her, to obey her, to belong to her; shortly, to live as a sincere and practical
Catholic in our everyday life, where every action we perform to console the Immaculate Heart of Mary is
or becomes in a broad sense, a consecrated act.

So we can say, the act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart, as intended at Fatima, becomes
a real Catholic Action-work, becomes the soul of all Catholic Action. According to Gods will, it is Mary
who shall lead the world back to Christ, to the Sacred heart of Jesus where alone they can find life and
truth and everlasting peace. But Christ cannot reign as King of our hearts, if Mary does not reign as the
Queen of our hearts, Therefore she said: I ask for the consecration of the whole world to my
Immaculate Heart.

THIRD DAY

MEDITATION

Sacrifice for Jesus

Men must amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins.

Our Lady of Fatima

On October 31, 1942, the Holy Father gave a radio address beamed to Portugal but intended for the
entire world. On this occasion he reminds us of the Blessed Virgins exhortation to do penance. She
tells us all he says, to do penance, to amend our lives and flee from sin, which is the principal cause of
the awful chastisement with which Eternal Justice punishes the world. She bids us in a world given over
to materialism and pagan propaganda, to be a sun of light to save and enlighten it. She bids us to
cultivate purity, and reflect the holy austerity of the Gospel. She bids us, cost what it may, to live as
sincere, convinced, integral Catholics. More still, she bids us out of the fullness of Christ, to diffuse
around us, near and far, the perfume of Christ, and by constant prayer, especially the daily Rosary, as
well as by such sacrifices as zeal inspires, to win for sinful souls the life of grace and life eternal.

In each of the six apparitions the Blessed Mother asked and repeated the same request, saying:
Men must amend their lives, and ask pardon for their sins. And in a tone of sadness and sorrow she
added at the final apparition on October 13, 1917: Men must no longer offend our Lord, Who has
already been offended too much. This message of Fatima not only asks us to repent our sins, and to
expiate them, but to change our lives, give up sin completely, because it offends God, and brings down
castigation on us. What a loving reproach is contained in these words, what tender pleading, says
Sister May Lucy of the Dolors, I wish I could make it re-echo throughout the entire world for all the
children of Our heavenly Mother to hear, Jacinta, another of the Seers of Fatima, spoke of the need of
amending their lives, not only to sinners but also to the faithful. She insisted on the necessity of breaking
away completely from sin, and urged the practice of Christian virtues and penance. Mortification and
sacrifice please Jesus very much. Oh she remarked once, if men only knew what eternity is, how they
would amend their lives. And again she said: This sins of the world are too great Men must do
penance If they amend their lives Our Lord will pardon the world; but if they do not, the chastisement
will come.

How well do those words fir the scene of the world today. Let us acknowledge humble that we
have merited the castigation which an all just God has sent us. Let us sincerely ask His pardon for our
past sins begging His grace to begin seriously reforming our lives.

Let sinners amend their lives, and become good Christians.

Let the good amend their lives, and strive to become better.

Let the better amend their lives to become perfect and join with the sanctified to console God
and avert another period of castigation. Let us listen to the message of Penance of Fatima, by
renouncing resolutely, in the true spirit of penance, all indolence, all self-indulgence and all sensuality.
Let us do penance, prove ourselves true Christians in a world that has gone mad with amusement and
dissipation debasing itself with evil and sin, that, through sanctity, the pardon and blessing of God will
be merited.

FOURTH DAY

MEDITATION

Reparation for Sins

Make sacrifices for sinners, for many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices
for them.

Our Lady of Fatima

On December 10, 1925, Our Lady with the Infant Jesus appeared to Lucy, showing her the Immaculate
Heart surrounded with thorns, and the Infant Jesus said, indicating with His hands: Have pity on this
loving heart, a continual martyr to the ingratitude of men. And the Blessed Mother added: My child
behold my Heart pierced with thorns which the blasphemy and ingratitude of men drive deeper every
moment. Do you, at least, try to console me, and make known to men that I promise to assist at the hour
of death, with the graces necessary for salvation of those, who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive
months, go to confession, receive Holy Communion, say the Rosary, and spend a quarter of an hour with
me in meditating on the 15 mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.

In the third apparition, the Blessed Virgin had said already: Sacrifice yourself for sinners, and
say often, but especially when you are making some sacrifices, O Jesus, it is for love of You, for the
conversion of sinners, and to repair the offense offered to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Ever since the little ones had heard these words: Sacrifice yourself for sinners they did not let
pass a single day without sacrifice, or mortification.

One especially hot day, they could no longer resist their thirst. Lucy went and asked for water.
An old woman gave her a pitcher of water and added a piece of bread. The bread was shared among the
three, and Lucy handed the pitcher to Francis. I dont want to drink, I want to suffer for the conversion
of sinners. You drink Jacinta, said Lucy. I, too, want to do penance. Then Lucy poured the water into
a hollow stone for the sheep. At other times they would say to each other: Will you not do this for Our
Lady, for Our Lord, for poor sinners?

This word from heaven: Sacrifice yourself for sinners was so deeply rooted in them, that
Jacinta made it her last beautiful message to Francis when he was dying: When you come to Heaven,
give my loving thoughts to Jesus and Our Lady, tell them that I am ready to suffer all that they wish for
the conversion of sinners and in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. What splendid, apostolic
generosity in these three children. Let us imitate them in some small way, becoming disciples of these
little masters of the spiritual life, at least on the first Saturday of the month. There must be atonement
for the insults to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. How deep indeed are the wounds inflicted today upon
the Immaculate Heart by all those who have rejected her Divine Son, who repeat the word of old:
There is no place for Him here in this house. Look upon the world as it is. All passion, all nature, all
paganism. All offenses against God: blasphemies, outrages and sacrileges of all kinds. He came into His
own and His own received Him not; and not only that, the other word of the Evangelist becomes true in
our times also; They took up stones to throw at Him. Children sin against their Father in Heaven,
creatures persecute their Creator on earth and want a world without God. O Christian soul, know how to
love and to suffer and repair this damage. You say you love the Lord, where is your proof? I say this: As
great and as small is your love for God, as great and as small your love of sacrifice is, Great love for
sacrifice shows a great love for God; little love of sacrifice means no love for God; for love of sacrifice
and love of God are one and the same in this valley of tears. The Immaculate Heart of Mary asks it of
you: Sacrifice yourself for sinners. The children of Fatima answered this word by saying: Yes, we will
suffer in reparation for sins and for the conversion of sinners. Because mortification and sacrifice please
Jesus very much. What do you say? How great is your love for Jesus, for Mary?

FIFTH DAY

MEDITATION

The Fire of Hell

Our Lord showed us a great sea of fire

Sister Lucy

Sister Lucy tell us:

On the 13th of July 1917, when Our Lady said: Sacrifice yourself for sinners She stretched out
her hands once more, as she had done twice before. The projected light seemed to pierce the earth and
we saw a great sea of fire which seemed to be under the earth. Immersed in the flames, black and
burning were demons and human form. They were like transparent furnaces floating in this fire, carried
about by clouds of smoke: Lifted up into the air by the flame, they fell back on all sides like sparks in a
conflagration, unable to maintain their equilibrium, uttering wild cries of pain and despair which made
us tremble with terror, fear and awe. The devils were distinguished from the human beings by their
horrible, disgusting animal forms, unknown to us but transparent as live coals.

This fearful sight lasted only a moment, wrote Sister Lucy in 1942, and we must thank our
heavenly Mother for having promised us before hand to take us to Heaven, or I believe we should have
died of horror and fear.

If the mere sight of Hell for a moment is already unbearable to innocent souls, what must the
eternal endurance of its suffering be to guilty souls without the help of grace?

Our Lord once allowed St. Catherine of Siena to behold the Devil one Devil alone for a short
space of time, hardly a moment, and when the Saint emerged from her ecstasy she chose to walk on a
road of fire, even until Judgement Day, rather than to see the Devil again.

Our Lady of Fatima strongly desires that no soul be plunged or rather, plunges itself into the
eternal fires. Every soul lost to her beloved Son Jesus is a child lost to her also. Therefore she urges the
prayer after each mystery in the Rosary:

O my Jesus, pardon our sins.

Save us from the fires of hell.

Deliver the souls in Purgatory,

Especially the most abandoned.

What Sister Lucy has told us of Hell, can be applied to Purgatory also, since there is little
difference between the pains of Hell and those of Purgatory. Saints have said that Purgatory is a
shortened Hell. It differs from it only because it has an end. But there is also violence, wailing, remorse,
anguish of mind, fire, intense darkness; shortly all earthly pains added together would not equal the
least pains in Purgatory. No wonder that Our Lady of Fatima prescribed a special prayer concerning Hell
and Purgatory.

This little prayer inserted in the Rosary calls to mind the final realities of human existence:
Judgement, Heaven, Hell, Purgatory. It is a cry of sorrow for sin. It overflows with charity in its repeated
supplication for souls languishing in the flames of divine wrath.

If there were no sin, there would be no sorrow, no Hell, no Purgatory. Despite this, numberless
crimes, many sins, and very grave sins, are committed at every moment in the world. Considering this,
little Jacinta said: I feel so sorry for Our Lady. So sorry. Guilty souls should therefore recite Our Ladys
special prayer for forgiveness, and the innocent souls should recite it for the guilty. Pray, pray for
sinners, said Our Lady of Fatima. Many souls go to Hell because there are none to pray and to make
sacrifices for them.

The modern world disregards Hell. Many today deny its existence. Our Lady of Fatima proved,
there was and there is a Hell by showing it to the shepherds at Fatima. Of those who believe in Hell, a
considerable number claim that only few, if any, go there. Our Lady of Fatima said: Many souls go to
Hell" And she added later: Sins of the flesh are those that throw most souls into Hell. St. Theresa of
Avila writes that she beheld souls plunging into the abyss like the leave of autumn.

Since nothing undefiled shall enter Heaven, practically all the elect must go to Purgatory. We
can all avoid Purgatory, but we do not so because of carelessness, spiritual sloth and blindness. Prayer
and sacrifices of some good and pious souls may obtain for poor sinners a deathbed of repentance, but
the poor sinners will have a long and bitter Purgatory. They are at the mercy of fire and remorse long
beyond the memory of relatives and friends. Their one desire is deliverance, but who shall deliver them?

Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima can and does deliver them; as she tells us: I am the Mother of
all souls in Purgatory; for all the pains that they have deserved for their sins, every hour, as long as they
remain there, is in some way mitigated by my prayers.

But many requests also your prayers and the precious indulgences of your Rosary. Pray, pray much for
sinnersand make sacrifices for them.

SIXTH DAY

MEDITATION

The Daily Rosary

I want you to say the rosary everyday.

Our Lady of Fatima

That the Rosary is a great means of salvation is the general belief of Catholics. Aside from
Lourdes and Fatima, we have heard it from competent ecclesiastical authorities such as Pope Pius IX, the
great Pope of the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception; from his deathbed he whispered the plea for
the daily Rosary, the daily Family Rosary, Let the rosary habitually be recited every evening in every
household; these are my last words to you the memorial I leave behind. Fathers and Mothers could
seek no greater blessing from God than at the close of their lives to leave to their children their own
deep love for the Rosary, for the Family Rosary. The late Pius XI, the great modern Pope, said once: The
Pope prays his Rosary everyday. As long as the Pope has not prayed yet his Rosary, his day is not
finished. If the Pope does not pray his Rosary, he does not pray. We wish to be imitated in this matter.

At Fatima Our Lady chose for her purpose three little children who knew to pray only the
Rosary; she appeared always with a Rosary in her hands, and is so represented in the millions of images
of hers which are distributed throughout the world. But even more convincing are the words of Our
Lady herself. In the first Apparition, when Lucy asked if Francisco would also go to Heaven, she replied:
He will go also, but he must say many more Rosaries. And later: Say the Rosary everyday to obtain
peace for the world and the end of the war.... In the second Apparition: I want you to say the Rosary
everyday. In the third Apparition: I want you to to continue to say the Rosary every day in honor of
Our Lady of the Rosary. In the fourth Apparition: I want you to continue to say the Rosary everyday.
In the fifth Apparition: Continue to say the Rosary In the sixth Apparition I want to tell you that I
am the Lady of the Rosary; continue to say the Rosary every day. Who could remain indifferent to this
maternal insistent recommendation of Our Lady to say the Rosary every day? The fact and the
consequences of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, confirmed by numberless miracles, these are
the reasons why we must believe that the Rosary is recommended to us from Heaven, as a great means
perhaps the greatest of all times that pleases our heavenly Mother most. We who have learned it
when we were children and have grown up with it in our hands, know well that the Rosary is the
devotion of every true Catholic, and every Christian family. Only a third part of the complete Rosary,
that is five mysteries, is required, and it may be recited, when you have the time, in the morning at Holy
Mass, during the day or at night at home. At the end of each decade or mystery Our Lady of Fatima
wants to have added the brief prayers: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, deliver us from the fires of Hell,
and give relief to the souls in Purgatory, especially the most abandoned souls. The pledge of the daily
Rosary does not bind under pain of sin. If you forget, or neglect it through a cause that you could not
prevent, there is no sin committed or any harm done. Supposing that the Blessed Mother actually
appeared to you and asked you to do this for her, oh! How gladly would you follow her. You would let
nothing deter you from complying with her wish. Say then: Dear Blessed Mother, touched by your
tender request asking me to say the Holy Rosary every day, I hereby promise to comply with your
request, in so far as it is humanly possible. My daily Rosary, my daily gift to You, the Queen of the Holy
Rosary.

SEVENTH DAY

MEDITATION

The Family Rosary

We must say it properly.

Jacinta

The Family Rosary is especially needed today. We have just finished a great war in defense of
homes and family life. This attach was from outside. But another kind of attack is being launched against
the home and family, and that is an attack from the inside. A family can never be happy unless it is
modelled after the Holy Family. Christ and Mary and good St. Joseph must be members of it. The secret
of happiness is holiness, and there is no better way for families to be united in holiness than through
family prayer, and there is no more powerful prayer than the Rosary composed, as it is, of the Lords
Prayer and the words brought from God by the angel when he said, Hail Mary. Say the Rosary
together, and your family will receive great graces of holiness and happiness. Christ himself advises us to
pray together, in group: If two of you shall agree on earth about anything at all for which they ask, it
shall be done for them by My Father in Heaven. For where two or more are gathered together in My
Name, I am in the midst of them. (Mt. 18, 19, 20). Christ in the midst of the family will make our prayer,
our petitions more powerful.

When the Blessed Virgin appeared at Fatima, she came to give the world a means of combatting
the evils of sorrows of today. She could have chosen the Rosary, the Family Rosary, recommending it in
every apparition. I am the Lady of the Rosary I have come to ask the faithful to amend their lives and
ask pardon for their sins. They must not continue to offend Our Lord, already so deeply offended. They
must recite the Rosary. It is the family that is threatened today, and it is the family that must be saved.
The Rosary has saved the world in past. It can save it again by saving the family; and the family can be
saved by the Rosary the Family Rosary, as the Blessed Virgin said to Blessed Alan: He who calls on me
through the Rosary, shall not perish. Oh, how beautiful is it, - when the days work is done, - to witness
the father, the mother of the home, joined by the other members of the family, and visitors, kneeling
before an image of their spiritual and heavenly Mother, and reciting the Family Rosary. Surely, that
household must be endowed with an abundance of heavenly gifts.

A Father of a family writes: We have heard of our heavenly Mothers wish for the Family
Rosary. We have started the daily Family rosary in January 1946; we havent missed a single day since.
As my wife and I are the parents of six children, you can see that one Rosary in one evening send up
over 300 Hail Marys for the salvation of the world in just 15 minutes to Our heavenly Mother. In a
month, it is 9000; in a year 103,000 Hail Marys and this is just from one family. If 10 Families of the size
of nine would say the daily Family Rosary in one year, that would mean a million Hail Marys for the
salvation of the souls. Surely, that is impressive, and must make an impression on the Blessed Mother.

Do you wish to help an erase selfishness and hate from the world and bring God and love back
into the hearts of those about you, of the members of your family, of your friends, then say the Family
Rosary.

EIGHTH DAY

MEDITATION

The Five First Saturdays

I promise to assist them at the hour of death with graces needed for salvation.

Our Lady of Fatima

The full text of this wonderful promise is the following: Behold, my child. Behold my
Immaculate Heart encircled with thorns which ungrateful men thrust therein at every moment by their
blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, try to console me and tell them that I promise to assist at the
hour of death, with the graces needed for salvation, whoever, on the First Saturday of five consecutive
months, shall confess and receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me
company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention
of making reparation to me.
In this promise, we see, Our Lady expressly asked for the devotion of the Five First Saturdays. It
is, therefore, her own specially chosen devotion. How dear it must be to her Immaculate Heart, can be
seen from her revelation to Lucy one day, saying: that souls who practice and spread this devotion
would be dear to God and resemble flowers placed by me before the throne of God. How dear must it
be also to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Who has worked for thirty-three long years on the sanctification
and perfection of this Immaculate Heart of Mary, His Mother. When will all sanctified, when it was
adorned with all different virtues, when it really was for us a model to imitate, then Jesus went to the
Cross and from there He told poor mankind, Behold thy Mother. With other words, He said: Behold a
Mother you should love and honor and praise.

We remember from His public life the word: Whatever you have done to the least of My
brethren, you have done it to Me. (Matt. 25, 49). How much more can that be said of what we do in
honor of Mary. Whatever you have done to My Mother, you have done it to Me, for the Son is honored
in, His mother and the mother is honored in the Son.

Little Jacinta before dying said to Lucy: When the moment will have come, say clearly that the
good Lord grants His graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that we must not hesitate to ask
these of her; tell the people that the Heart of Jesus desired to be honored together with the Immaculate
Heart of Mary.

Since Jesus and Mary were associated in the divine work of Redemption as the Man of Dolors
and as the Mater Dolorosa, the sorrowful Mother, and since every Friday and especially every First
Friday is dedicated to the Passion of Our Lord and to His Most Sacred Heart; it seems fitting that the
following day, the Saturday and especially the First Saturday may be dedicated to the co-redemptress of
mankind, to Mary, Our Heavenly Mother.

We celebrate the nine first Fridays in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus because of the great
consoling promise: I promise thee in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all powerful love will
grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the first Friday in nine consecutive months the grace
of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace, nor without receiving the Sacraments: My Divine
Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.

Here in the great promise of the five first Saturdays of Our Lady of Fatima the same favors are
promised to us: I will assist them at the hour of death with the graces needed for salvation.

What proof or guarantee do we need other than the promise of the Mother of God, Our
Mother, Our Lady of Fatima to be at our side in the hour of death.

We know all, hell shall then be unchained against us to snatch us away our soul, and in that
dread moment, that hour so terrible, on which our eternity depends, Mary will make us feel, how great
sweetness is of her motherly heart and how great her power is with the Heart of Jesus, opening to us a
safe refuge forever.

In the rush of our everyday life and much more yet in the days of prosperity, when God smiles
on us, blesses us with maternal favors sends us good luck, we easily forget the way to the Church,
neglect the Sacraments, abandon prayer, lose sight of the eternal truths. We need, therefore, someone
who will direct our life toward the end for which God has created us.

Mary in her divine message of Fatima points the way back to God when she says:
My Immaculate Heart will be the way that leads to Jesus.

I want you to say the Rosary everyday.

Men must amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins.

This is her personal message to the world. We can avert or at least mitigate great chastisements
which will fall upon us and the world, if we now heed her recommendations for returning the world to
Jesus through her Immaculate Heart, by Penance and the Daily Rosary, and by celebrating the first
Saturdays in the spirit of reparation. When doing this, Mary will remember us in our last hour, will
present us to Jesus telling Him, where I am I want also my child to be. And how can Jesus refuse her
request in the heavenly kingdom when He did not refuse her on earth. So Heaven Jesus Kingdom
will be ours if we practice the Message of Fatima, the self-chosen devotion of Blessed Mother consisting
of the daily Rosary, especially the Family Rosary; the Reparation, the only method of effacing sin heaped
upon an all-just and all merciful God, and the practice of the First Saturdays to make the Immaculate
Heart triumphs. Let us listen, let us follow her call: I come to ask the consecration of the entire world to
my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of Reparation on the first Saturdays of five consecutive
months.

CONDITION FOR THE FIVE FIRST SATURDAYS DEVOTION

Marys magnificent promise at Fatima, approved by Church authorities, should induce pious
souls to make the Five First Saturdays.

The confession asked by the Blessed Mother may be made a week before, or after the
Communion provided Communion is received in the state of grace.

The Rosary may be recited at any convenient time of the day.

The fifteen-minute meditation may be made at any time of the day, either on all the mysteries
as a whole or one mystery each month.

It is permissible to combine the Rosary and meditation by thinking on each mystery a few
minutes before reciting the decade. A sermon for the occasion may be substituted for the meditation.
The intention should be to make reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

NINTH DAY

MEDITATION

The Lady Her Triumph

I come from Heaven.

Replied the beautiful Lady:

The message of Fatima was delivered to us through the three shepherd children at Fatima in
1917. It was a message of love; that seems to be clear. God in His infinite wisdom and goodness, after
exhausting if one may so express it imperfectly the goodness and tenderness of His own Heart on
mankind, could find no better way of calling men back from the sinfulness of the modern world, than to
place them in the Heart of His Mother, who came to earth in Fatima for only one thing, to ask for the
love of her children. This message of Fatima in its last analysis is, therefore, a message of love, in a world
lacerated by hate. What else could we expect from the heart of a Mother?

Lucy describing this heavenly Mother says: She was a lady all in white, more brilliant that the
sun, dispensing a light, clearer and more intensive than a cup full of crystalline water penetrated by the
rays of the most glaring sun. Her face was not sad, not happy, but serious. Many years have passed
since the message of Fatima was delivered, and what has the world done to promote that message of
Hope and Salvation? If we consider the dignity of the bearer of that Divine message, her authority, her
right to be heard, and our duty to obey the message of Fatima should have been heard by now by
everyone and everywhere. So much has been written and spoken about it and many Catholics do not yet
know of the wonders of Fatima. What is worse, many others know of it, but ignore it. And yet our Lady
considered this message so important that she personally came down to earth to make it known
begging us, the ungrateful children of God, to stop offending Jesus and to make reparation for our sins
to her Immaculate Heart. She gave us the means to this: the daily recitation of the Rosary, especially the
Family Rosary, and the devotion to her Immaculate Heart, on the five first Saturdays for which
fulfillment she made, the Great Promise: To help them at the hour of death with the graces needed for
salvation.

To make us believe in her word and obey her demands, and to prove that her mission was of
divine origin, she caused the wonderful Solar Prodigy on October 13, 1917, before a crowd of 70,000
people, appearing in all glory and splendor. The majesty of this event is so unique in history, and yet the
Catholic world in unmoved. Let us not harden our hearts. Let us give to Our Lady what she asks. It is in
our own interest. Let us begin a truly Christian life, faithful to the Commandments of her Divine Son and
His Church, as well as to the duties of our state of life.

A real turning to God now before it is too late. A Christian life fully lived. Away with doubts,
WE NEED belief to counter unbelief in the world of today. WE NEED hope to match despair. WE NEED
love to conquer hate. Thus we can bring peace to this world, if we but learn, practice and spread the
Message of Fatima. This is the glorious and beautiful apostolate of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is
the apostolate for which our Blessed Mother deigned to come down from Heaven, to reveal it to
ungrateful mankind. This is the apostolate of the maternal love of Mary for her earthly children. Will you
refuse the invitation of our Heavenly Mother?

Constantine saw the sign of the Cross in the sky, it is claimed, and was told in hoc signo vincis,
in this sign thou shall conquer. The children of Fatima saw the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and were told
that in that sign the Church would triumph, Christ would reign in the world again. Mary has told us
herself: When my Immaculate Heart triumphs, Russia will be converted and there will be peace. A true
and lasting peace for the world.

Thus we see that the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary depends on us.

Our Lady of Fatima indicated her Immaculate Heart not merely as a particular devotion, but as
an ideal, a sure way that leads to peace, a sure way that leads to Jesus. Souls which consecrate
themselves to the Immaculate Heart and imitate its virtues will never be abandoned. They will attain
great sanctity.

If each Catholic would spread the knowledge of this beautiful devotion to only one person, how
quickly would the whole world turn to Our Lord through the Immaculate Heart of His Mother!
That Christ may reign as King of our hearts, Mary must reign as the Queen of our hearts, we
must listen, we must practice, we must spread the Message of Fatima to everyone, everywhere.
