Section 2: Application of Information Systems Discussion

Information systems are used very strategically at the Microsoft Corporation. It is a

massive company with millions of customers who use their products everyday. By using
information systems, Microsoft can easily see how many customers are using a certain type
of their software and what functions they use the most out of that software. This helps
employees innovate the software and make the next one with an even more advanced
function that the customers appreciate. In information systems they can see themselves
compared with close competitors and off of this analysis, strategically decide what they need
to come to the market with next. By not manually managing their data and information
anymore, employees of Microsoft can now simply just analyze the information given to them
from Information Systems and brainstorm ways they can make their company even more of a
leader in the Software Market.

Section 3: Marketing Analysis

(a) Windows 10
(b) This adword will be effective in bringing the customer to the Microsoft site because
it is very specific in what the customer might be looking for. I dont think any other

company would have this adword, because Microsoft is the only company that
sells this software.

(c) There is only one ad that comes up when I enter this into google. This is the
Microsoft online store which is exactly what the customer is looking for, along with
a description of the features that come with the new software.

(a) Laptop software
(b) This adword is not as effective for bringing customers directly to the Microsoft
website. There are many software companies out there. I thought this would be a
good word because Microsoft is a leader in the software market so they can afford
to take a lot of ad words to make sure their ad comes up frequently when
customers search something broad like this.
(c) These results actually surprised me because barely any Microsoft ads returned.
More results were related to actual laptops for sale such as Dell laptops or laptop
software for sale at target.

(a) Windows Hello
(b) This adword is a feature of the product, Windows 10, I have been trying to target
with all of the above adwords. Windows Hello is a new way of logging in to your
laptop or computer with just a look or touch, no password. A customer may have
heard of this new feature but not know what software it belongs to. Microsoft can
catch this interested customer and bring them to their website.
(c) Only one result came up again and that was a link directly to the Microsoft website
to purchase and see all the other features of Microsoft 10. I think the reason no
other ads come up is because no other companies want to pay to have this
adword if they cant even offer the feature of Windows Hello.

The Microsoft Corporation, a leading software company, was founded in 1975 by

two men named Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Albuquerque, NM. Like many other
companies, Microsoft started very small but had very big plans for the future. Within
the first couple of years of Microsoft starting up, they were already approached by the
company IBM to work on a particiular product with them. Microsoft decided to work on
a new foundation in which computer programs can run on. They called it "MS-
DOS". Microsoft reached a big milestone when the Windows NT was released on
July 27, 1993. Microsoft still doesnt stop here and has been revealing new products,
services, programs ever since they started. Just this year Windows 10 has been
released but not all at one time. Microsoft is not done coming out with innovative
products for the world to see.
