Description

The Role

The New Programs Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering prototype level components and
systems for the Tesla Model S program as well as future Tesla product programs.

This position requires frequent interaction with the Vehicle Engineering team and Design team using input from
Interior, Exterior, BIW and Closures.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication
skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently. He/she must establish and maintain a
professional working relationship with external and internal teams at all levels across the company. Typical job duties
may include but are not limited to the following,Conceptualize Design, Release, Develop assigned
components/systems, including:

Create and develop component and system requirements and specifications .

Create vehicle-aligned component and system targets for function, cost, weight and investment.

Establish system architecture and functional feasibility.

Support creation of component specification, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents.

Work with the Design Studio and Vehicle engineering team to resolve feasibility issues.

Develop parametric design concepts and production designs in CATIA V5.

Optimize the concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments.

Ensure product conforms to all market regulations governing assigned systems.

Interface with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility, validation, and other engineering activities as specified for the
assigned commodity. Note that in most cases, Tesla Vehicle Engineering will design commodities for the Model S
in-house.
Deliver designs and other program deliverables on time and within budget .
Ensure designs are compatible with the assembly process and are serviceable.

Support vehicle milestones including prototype, pre-production, and production build events .

Deliver world-class craftsmanship and fit/finish and launch the product successfully.

Requirements
Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional
ability.

2+ years experience in design and engineering - specific system experience required.

Proficiency in CATIA V5 using parametric elements and knowledge based engineering tools.

Understanding of GD&T.

Demonstrated knowledge and ability to integrate state-of-the-art design and manufacturing methods into product
concepts and designs.
Ability to interpret CAE results and integrate recommendations into product designs.
Prior experience with low volume (10-25k units/year) production preferred.

Knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes and lightweight, recyclable and sustainable materials.

Job Description:
Hyundai Technical Center Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Chassis Engineer to join the North America
Quality Center Team at its facility in Chino, CA who will:

Analyze Chassis warranty data to determine emerging trends which require investigation
Conduct local and field investigations as needed to determine root cause with detail description of
duplicating condition
Benchmark competitive vehicles and provide input to competitive database for Chassis attributes
Support port, assembly plant, and dealership visits to investigate issue
Support port and plant visits to assess quality
Prepare weekly report with subjective and objective data
Research new methods and procure new technology relevant to measurement of Chassis systems
and NVH
Support the departmental goals related to Chassis
In this role one should have a hands-on level of familiarity with traditional Chassis systems such as
brakes/suspension/shocks/steering, etc, as well as the function and layout of modern technologies
such as stability control, electric power steering, adjustable damping and other technologies.
Ability to travel on short notice, up to 40%, domestically and on occasion, internationally.

Experience and Skills:

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering


3 years of analyzing suspension issues, road/wind/tire noises, vibration noise study in vehicle
mechanical components.

Job Description:
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc.(HATCI) is seeking a Powertrain Performance Test Engineer at our
Chino, CA location that will support establishment & validation of Powertrain performance characteristics,
through analysis of current and future Hyundai & Kia vehicles, competitor vehicles, powertrain trends, and
customer preferences and feedback.

Evaluate & test Hyundai/Kia development vehicles: perform root cause analysis of drivability and
performance items. Recommend countermeasures; co-work to validate improvement.
Plan & participate in Evaluation Test Trips to validate drivability and confirm program status and
match to US market expectation.
Conduct competitor vehicle testing for objective measures of performance, fuel economy, and
subjective measures of powertrain performance feel.
Process objective data with Matlab, Excel, and/or other relevant software.
Analyze competitive vehicle tuning and identify key features, including fuzzy logics.
Analyze US market feedback from customers and media, comprehend powertrain tuning issues for

Support Powertrain Drive Clinics to determine customer preferences for Hyundai/Kia Powertrain
calibrations in comparison with competitor vehicles.

Demonstrate recommended tuning direction by supporting development & validation of concept &

BUILD RELIABILITY ENGINEER


OVERVIEW :

The Build Reliability Engineer will ensure the reliability of flight components and assemblies. This individual will evaluate
product and process output data to drive improvements in manufacturing quality, and actively represent quality objectives in
design and development teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design for Manufacture


o Participates in Preliminary Design Review (PDR) / Critical Design Review (CDR) to ensure design for quality (DFQ), design
for manufacturability (DFM), risk quantification and mitigation, and that appropriate test validation methods and inspection
techniques, including nondestructive evaluation methods, have been considered.
o Hands-on development of design for manufacturability through ensuring identification of key characteristics, prototype
testing for manufacturability, First Article and Detailed Inspection planning, evaluation of previous non-conformances and
lessons learned, and other manufacturing and quality tools as required.
Inspection and Test Process
o Leads inspection planning for new products through identification of features and gages, and integration with planned
operations.
o Designs or procures new measurement methods as required and integrates with existing processes.
o Validates new and existing measurement and tests methods using process capability and measurement systems analysis
(MSA) statistical tools. Proposes solutions to remove the need to verify product conformance through measurement, e.g.
poka yoke.
o Works with Production Quality inspectors to understand inspections with subjective criteria or those that need improvement.
First Build Reviews and Walkdowns
o Co-ordinates, schedules and facilitates objective First Build Reviews to ensure transparency of design intent, design
requirements, design and manufacturing risks, and manufacturability of design.
o Develops and maintains engineering walkdown criteria for major product milestones to provide clear guidance to Production
on engineering intent and acceptance criteria.
o Identifies photo closeout requirements for complete as-built documentation.
Evaluates and analyzes production quality landscape
o Uses data to make landscape transparent and drive project prioritization. Responsible for ensuring that issues related to
product reliability are primary focus.
o Drives achievement of quality targets through a review hierarchy with appropriate levels of management.
o Ensure controls in place to prevent reoccurrence.
Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigations
o Leads, facilitates, and participates in root cause investigations in their respective area.
o Deep dives using appropriate quality or analysis tools as required.
o Ensures documentation of cause and corrective action is captured appropriately.
o Ensures appropriate actions to prevent recurrence.
Containment
o Leads activity to support containment of all suspect product.
o Provides guidance to quality inspectors, techs, and shop supervisors to assist in quarantining of all suspect product.
o Communicate status of evaluation and disposition to production leadership on a regular basis.
Issue Ticket Review/Audit/Closure
o Supports review of all issue tickets in respective area.
o Ensures rationale and documentation of design deviation is captured.
o Leads and coordinates the management of non-conforming hardware.
Review of Engineering Masters (EM), Work Order (WO) instructions and drawings
o Reviews and approves Engineering Orders (EOs), Engineering Masters (EMs), Work Orders (WOs), specifications, and
product introduction and build documentation for completeness, accuracy, regulatory compliance, and quality objectives.
o Validates that drawing captures all requirements needed to build and inspect hardware.
o Develops Inspection plans and modifies as required for process or design changes. Ensures inspection/test criteria are
objective with clear pass/fail criteria.
Production Process Audit/Improvement
o Assesses new processes for safety and product risks.
o Ensures adherence to QMS policy and procedures within their work center.
o Develops criteria and builds audits to identify process weaknesses.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in electrical, manufacturing, mechanical or material sciences engineering
Minimum 2 years in a quality, manufacturing, or design engineering role

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience supporting production of complex electro-mechanical, mechanical, or composites systems in high volume work
centers and/or during production ramp-up.
Knowledge of quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action, Advanced
Product Quality Planning (APQP), Metrology, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, and
various problem solving approaches.
Dedicated to adopting a Lean approach to quality without compromising safety or reliability.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and offsite as required. Some travel may be required.

DEVELOPMENT TEST ENGINEER

Join our Development Test group and support the development of our Dragon spacecraft and Falcon launch vehicles.
Development Test Operations is a fast paced R&D focused group that supports testing of the latest vehicle and spacecraft
designs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create test stand concepts, fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation lists
Design and analyze structures, fluid systems and mechanisms
Supervise the integration of test stands including fabrication, mechanical assembly and data/control systems
Operate test stands with great attention to detail. (tests have very little margin for error, so attention to detail is a crucial and
essential characteristic of a development test engineer.)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering


At least one year of experience using CAD software

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline


Experience with Unigraphics (NX)
Experience doing finite element analysis (FEA)
Experience designing structural/thermal/fluid test stands from scratch
Data acquisition and controls experience

SUMMARY

The Service Engineer will be responsible for all PQ work related to the analysis of all quality concerns
with an specific model platform, including warranty data analysis, countermeasure investigation &
validation and implementation on the field. Review FPQR and complete TREAD coding per government
mandates and other communication actions to the field. Executes product audits through a combination
of in plant audits as well as Port of Entry (POE) audits and report all findings and follow up to closure.

For quality improvement purposes, position requires continuous evaluation of Product Quality Test Fleet
vehicles and will include driving outside of normal business hours. This requires the possession of a valid
state drivers license and good driving record.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY

Identify, investigate and analyze product quality/service problems in Kia vehicles


Coordinates the preparation of all work related to the publication of TSB and SA including draft
reviews, time studies, analysis of labor times, parts needed, VIN list and final publication.
Lead IQS/VDS activities associated with their specific model line, including data analysis,
suggestions for vehicle improvement, customer education activities (FFG) and other actions as
needed to achieve corporate goals for quality
Coordinates and executes go and see activities with Kia Motor Corporation, NAQC and other
subsidiary personnel.
Executes product audits through a combination of in plant audits as well as Port of Entry (POE)
audits.

The Subaru Field Service Engineer will travel to retailers on a regular basis to proactively monitor and investigate the product
quality and effectiveness of product improvements and assist retailers with difficult diagnosis and repairs, provide training
support and assist the retailer in developing the retailer's technical staff.

When not traveling, they will provide technical support via phone to Subaru retailers and DPSMs and review field reports to
identify new opportunities.

The Field Service Engineer will lead root cause field investigations, either independently or with FHI and SOA personnel. They
will be the SOA Tech Group representative for Quick Response Activity (QRA) and other quality investigations in conjunction
with FUSA, SIA and FHI.

They will review repair procedures and advise on Service Equipment needs. They will educate the retailer technicians on proper
diagnostic and repair procedures when investigating, to enable thetechnicians to perform the job on their own in the future. They
will study repurchase and trade assisted vehicles and provide recommendations to reduce similar cases from re-occurrence .
Additionally, they must be comfortable with acting as the spokesperson/witness when needed on contested Lemon Law/warranty
matters.

Education/Experience: BA/BS in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering + 6-8 years of related technical service
experience. ASE certification a plus

Skill Requirements: Knowledge of operation of Subaru specific systems (or demonstrated ability to learn new/proprietary SOA
systems), vehicle characteristics and general automotive repair procedures. Diagnostic and technical skills. Attend and pass all
SOA technical training courses. Attend and pass all 8 ASEs and maintain a Senior Master level Strong Microsoft office skills.
This position requires professional flexibility that will allow the individual to adapt to existing skill sets in an effort to succeed in
a changing business climate. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills are necessary.
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable or probationary under the SOA Driving
Record Evaluation Criteria Policy. Must be approved as an "Authorized Driver" by Risk Mgmt. to operate company vehicle prior

RECOVERY ENGINEER (MECHANICAL DESIGN)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and architect recovery engineering high-level design concepts


Use your well-rounded technical knowledge to display proficiency in basic structural sizing, mechanisms, and design while
making development decisions based on cost and schedule considerations
Perform detailed mechanical design work, analysis and create drawings
Formalize and present concepts for approval
Estimate concept costs
Define requirements, deliverables and delivery dates

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER (LAUNCH VEHICLE INTEGRATION)

As a Manufacturing Development Engineer at SpaceX, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience,
and creativity to develop novel solutions at the cutting edge of space technology. Manufacturing Development Engineers are
responsible for the integration of the launch vehicles internal assembly. You will have the opportunity to enable increased
throughput of existing lines and develop manufacturing methods for new products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and execute build and test procedures for the integration and test of flight hardware and ground support equipment
Responsible for vehicle integration build flow and test concept of operations

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER MACHINE SHOP

Resolve, analyze and solve manufacturing discrepancies, while interfacing with the quality team (resolving issues for design,
fabrication, and assembly)
Aggressively drive and implement process improvements to reduce assembly hours and build cost
Fully develop and implement future state production systems for all products
Create capital/facility justifications for large projects and manage through implementation and runoff

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

VEHICLE SYSTEMS INTEGRATION AND TEST ENGINEER

propulsion, avionics, software and structural systems on the Falcon 9 rocket. The Engineer will bring new ideas, initiative,

RESPONSIBILITIES:

INTEGRATION

Hardware

Design propulsion subsystem component assembly architecture


Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration into subsystem
Complete design improvement feedback loop by communicating common issues to Design Engineers
Build prototype subassembly units and interface with Responsible Engineers to minimize potential assembly errors and time
Refine technology and assembly procedures to mature status. Interface with Production Engineers and technicians to
advance to larger scale manufacturing.

Run pressurized tests to verify the functionality and integrity of various Stage 1 propulsion and electrical systems at both the
subsystem and vehicle integration level

Layout and build test stands and racks for automated pressure testing and subsystem checkouts
Review test data and provide go/no-go judgment
Interface with Production engineers and technicians to hand off test responsibilities as technologies

Job Description

Motivo is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer. Motivo is a project-based small business focused on mechanical and electrical
system design and prototype builds with an emphasis on integrated electro-mechanical systems. We develop products in diverse
market segments including mobility/automotive, medical/health, robotics, and clean energy. Motivo specializes in taking
concepts and designs through the conceptual and detailed engineering phases, solving complex engineering challenges along the
way, and transitioning the initial concept/idea to a fully engineered solution.

Applicant should have a strong engineering background with a good understanding of mechanical and electrical fundamentals.
The ideal candidate will be a generalist with a solid understanding of physics and dynamics and should be able to integrate
electric motors and physical sensors into electromechanical systems. This role is responsible for a broad range of mechanical
engineering and multi-disciplinary tasks. Typical assignments will include the execution of design, analysis, and integration at
the system and component level.

Capabilities and Skills

Development of complex systems with interaction across multiple engineering disciplines

Advanced knowledge/skills in CAD modeling using a major software package (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA V5, ProE, or UG-
NX)

Reading and interpreting engineering specifications

Development and/or editing top level system architecture

Structural design, analysis, and optimization

Generate detailed design and technical drawings of systems, components, and interfaces

Engineering support of component manufacturing and build activities

Technical input into vehicle, system and sub-system-level trades

Engineering support of development testing

Analysis and interpretation of test data

Exposure to prototype manufacturing techniques. Understanding of casting, forging, and general manufacturing processes

Experience performing structural analysis using FEA software

Experience with ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9000 or equivalent quality system

Presentation of results and recommendations to internal team and external customers

Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines

Experience in rapid prototyping of electro-mechanical systems from concepts to functional prototypes is a plus
Required Attributes
BS in engineering required, MS or higher preferred

US Citizenship or Permanent Resident

Minimum 2 years of direct engineering experience within the automotive industry and/or engineering services is preferred

Must be a generalist with involvement in systems level design and experience working in a cross-functional engineering team

Broad understanding of automotive systems and current technologies

Understanding of complex systems modeling and how it can be applied to optimize vehicle systems

Experience using MS Office tools

Ability to apply GD&T to component designs and assemblies per ASME Y14.5-1994

Ability to multi-task and demonstrate attention to quality, timing, awareness of budget constraints, and other program
management considerations
