Background information
Replace the original seat with a replacement which includes increased thickness foam for improved rider
comfort. The foam thickness has been increased at both sides of the riders seat, to address in-service feedback
concerning rider comfort after long distances.

Customer contact instructions


Bikes in the affected VIN range must be modified prior to delivery to the customer or at the next service/visit
to the dealership. Dealers should inform the customer that the seat is to be replaced, if this is to be carried out
during a service or visit to the dealership.

Warranty On-Line: Order all repair parts by submitting a
New Prior through the Warranty On-Line system. Entering
the above repair code in a New Prior will automatically add
the necessary part and labour times for this Service Bulletin.

For Overseas Distributor dealers NOT using Triumph


Warranty On-Line: Orders should be placed using the
normal parts ordering procedure.

Parts return instructions . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Dealer to retain parts for 90 days, then scrap. All parts must
be stored in a secure, non-public accessed area and
correctly identified with a completed warranty label.
Thereafter the parts must be rendered unusable prior to
scrapping. It is suggested the seat fabric should be cut with
a sharp knife to scrap.

Other Instructions
Once completed, please mark the service record book that the requirements of this bulletin have been
complied with.

Replacement Procedure
Replace following the procedure listed below:

Warning
Throughout the following procedure, ensure that the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported to
prevent the risk of injury from the motorcycle falling.

Removal

1. The seat lock is located on the left hand side of the battery tray, in line with the footrest mounting rail. To
remove the seat, insert the ignition key into the seat lock and turn it anti-clockwise while pressing down on
the rear of the seat. This will release the seat from its lock and allow it to be slid rearwards for complete
removal from the motorcycle.

2. Remove the Owners Handbook wallet from its location in the seat base.

3. Remove the allen key from its location in the seat base.
4. Remove the fuel tank support from its location in the seat base.

Installation

1. Refit the fuel tank support and allen key to their respective locations on the new seat base.
2. Clip the Owners Handbook wallet to the new seat base, after marking the service record book that the
requirements of this bulletin have been complied with.
3. To refit the seat, engage the seat's tongue under the fuel tank and press down at the rear to engage in the
seat lock.

Warning
To prevent detachment of the seat during riding, after fitting always grasp the seat and pull firmly upwards. If
the seat is not correctly secured it will detach from the lock. A loose or detached seat could cause loss of
motorcycle control and an accident.
